Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer - Thermal Design & Analysis

Come be a part of our mission!This position will be based in **Linthicum, Maryland.**The Design and Analysis Engineer will be involved during all phases of program development from concept design through hardware integration and test efforts, with responsibilities ranging from design inputs, completing thermal analyses, presenting at design reviews, writing test reports, and helping with product test planning and execution. Typical roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Performing thermal analyses of component, hardware, and assembly designs
• Creating system level thermal models of assemblies and detailed thermal models of subassemblies and individual parts
• Creating thermal models of circuit card assemblies down to the component junction level
• Performing steady state and transient thermal analyses to predict temperatures, heat flows, and heat sinking requirements
• Preparing material and presenting at design reviews
• Understanding mechanical requirements and environments of space program hardware or subsystems of major satellite programs to assure technical performance is achieved
• Support program meetings in developing root cause and corrective actions
• Troubleshoot or support technicians in troubleshooting issues with hardware designs during integration and test and provide suggestions for improvement and optimization
• Verify space equipment designs and performance by making necessary calculations

Basic Qualifications:

• The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI.
• BS STEM degree and 9 years of experience. Or a Master's degree and 7 years of experience. 4 additional years of related experience required in lieu of a degree.
• Working knowledge of thermal analysis software (IcePak, Sinda/Fluint) or similar.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a cross-functional team with other engineers, management and contractors

Preferred Qualifications:

• Design and analysis experience simulating heat transfer in Space environments.
• Experience in modeling mechanical structures in; Solidworks, NX or similar.
• Ability to adjust to changing priorities and requirements.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.

Salary Range: $109,100 USD - $163,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
