Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Staff System Engineering Lead (GMD Ground Systems) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:
The selected Sr Staff System Engineering Lead (GMD Ground Systems) will be responsible for developing and implementing system updates that best meet changing customer needs on a Missile Defense System (MDS) Engineering Program. Will provide overall technical leadership for the system development team, to include planning capabilities to be developed in each Incremental release, supporting development and integration, and resolving technical issues.

Essential Functions:

  • Interface with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customer in multiple forums to include all walk-up activities to support the formal Incremental Review Milestones.
  • Provide technical presentations in various forums such as milestone reviews, status briefs, and problem resolution briefs.
  • Provide servant leadership throughout the organization with a focus on innovation
  • Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of system development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
  • Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 14 years of experience, or a Master's Degree and 12 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience with a PhD.

  • Active Secret Clearance (within last 5.5 years), Top Secret Preferred

  • Technical leadership and development experience with Missile Defense systems.

  • Ability to manage efforts in an Agile and DevSecOps process model.

  • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start; with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Missile Defense System (MDS) and its elements.
  • Understanding of requirements modules (PIDS/SRS/HRS/C-IRS), certification product modules (PIDS/SRS/HRS/C-IRS COs), and test artifact modules according to PI capabilities
  • Familiarity with DOORs and implementation of updates/improvements to DOORs schema
  • Experience in generating Technical Baseline charts for IRs, TRRs
  • Experience in chairing / co-chairing working groups to provide system engineering guidance

Salary Range: $157,500 USD - $236,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
