Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Staff Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In this role the candidate will work for the Mission Systems IPT and will serve as a design authority and consultant for a future airborne network architecture.
  • The candidate will be responsible for architecting a solution that meets technical requirements, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • The candidate maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware, software interconnection and interfacing, routers, multi-level security, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • The candidate has experience managing suppliers who provide hardware and software solutions and will independently evaluate the technical trade space.
  • In addition to architecting the overall airborne network, the candidate will perform requirements analysis, technical trade studies, formally manage risks, independently develop interface control documents, recommending down selections, and participate in Supplier Management Team overseeing vendor selection, procurement, and vendor oversight.
  • Strong project management and cross project coordination skills are required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor's of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 14 years of related professional/military experience with a background in systems/software engineering and/or integration, OR a Master's degree AND 12 years of related professional/military experience with a background in systems/software engineering and/or integration, OR a PhD degree AND 9 years of related professional/military experience with a background in systems/software engineering and/or integration.
  • Must have extensive experience with network design, multi-level security architecture, specifications, and equipment selection.
  • Must have extensive experience with advanced network features like IPv6, GRE, IPSEC, IP QOS, and VLANs.
  • Must be familiar with network management applications like Splunk, Solarwinds, and/or Cisco ISE.
  • Must be familiar with Windows, Linux, and VMWare configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Must have experience integrating payloads or communications subsystems into an airborne platform.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that is in-scope (granted or renewed within the last 6 years).
  • Must be able to attain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A professional certification specific to the networking industry like CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, JNCIA/JNCIE, or equivalent
  • Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment, procedures, and protocols.
  • Experience with tactical/military radio networks and military SATCOM equipment and services.
  • Experience with wide-area service provider technologies like MPLS and SONET
  • Knowledge of 5G communication software and hardware development.
  • Active in-scope Top Secret clearance with current or previous Special Program Access (PAR) and eligibility for SCI

Salary Range: $134,700 USD - $202,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
