Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sustainment Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

Falling under the umbrella of Operations Research, the Modeling and Simulation discipline itself is a mesh of many fields (e.g. Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, etc.) and frequently collaborates across functional disciplines, offering a highly unique opportunity to obtain a broad understanding of many areas or to more narrowly focus on developing a deep expertise in any one of the relevant fields.

In this role, you will be asked to work in a team environment to conduct research, develop models, and perform analysis of a wide variety of system types to drive the development of requirements, refine existing requirements, and influence the pursuit of future technologies and capabilities. You will work with the Product Support Integrated Product Team (IPT) on forward looking (projection based) metrics to status the health and capabilities of weapon systems.

One third of the responsibilities of the role include designing, developing, running, and improving Discrete Event Simulations of the future operations based off of design parameters and operational usages of the weapon system.

Two thirds of the responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching and developing new methodologies to perform models and simulations
  • Writing software to automate aspects of the job through simple scripts, reinforcement learners, and/or "artificial intelligence" projectors
  • Improving fidelity of models and simulations through data mining and data projections
  • Collaborating and integrating with design and data development teams to understand the system and its functions to develop robust models
  • Regularly present results of models and simulations to IPT, program, and customer leadership
  • Calculating and quantifying technical requirements and metrics at the program level

We are seeking a dynamic candidate to join our team who is interested in:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2+ years of experience OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university
  • Must have an Active, In-Scope DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program Access (PAR/SAP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Special Access Program clearance
  • Familiarity with Excel Macros and VBA scripting
  • Familiarity with Databases concepts
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle
  • Familiarity with standard military support practices (TO, MIL-HDBKs, MIL-STD, etc)
  • Experience working restricted programs

Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $106,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
