Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Tool Gauge Inspector to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT.

The Tool Gauge Inspector inspects, tests, and adjusts new and reworked tools, dies, gauges, jigs, and fixtures for conformance to specifications such as dimension, tolerance, and hardness. Inspects tools in accordance with specifications with locating points, coordinated dimensions, and tooling holes that are at right angles, compound angles, or parallels. Tests units for fit of moving parts and mechanical functioning. Verifies accuracy of measuring instruments such as dial indicators, fixed gauges, height gauges, optical equipment, and electrical and functional gauges using master gauges. May use optical instruments to examine measuring instruments for wear, damage, and defects, and makes adjustments to inaccurate instruments. Maintains calibration service records and also defective parts and types. Calibrates Torque Devices and all other types of general dimensional measuring equipment such as Micrometers, Calipers, Thread Plug Gages, Rings Gages etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS diploma, or equivalent, and 4+ years of relevant inspection experience.
  • Experience with making precise and exact measurements of complex close-tolerance tooling.
  • Experience in the use of precision measuring equipment such as Super-Micrometer, Optical Comparator, precision caliper, angle plates, sine plates, micrometers, electronic height gauges, digital drop gauges, Tool-makers Microscope etc.
  • Must be familiar with geometric dimensioning and tolerance validations per ANSI Y14.5M, 1982 or equivalent.
  • Must have competent computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the use and programming of a CMM is preferred

Salary Range: $56,000 USD - $93,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
