Northwestern Mutual’ s Private Debt and Equity group is a committed investor in the private markets, partnering with leading private equity firms and corporations for the past 40+ years. This dedication has led private equity firms and corporations around the world to rely on us to provide the strategic funding necessary to support leveraged transactions and capital investments.

An Investment Analyst is responsible for assisting in the evaluation of new private equity and debt investments across a wide range of industries. Specific responsibilities include financial modeling and valuation, conducting industry and business due diligence, assisting in the writing of investment recommendation memos, and contributing to investment committee discussions. An Investment Analyst will also assist in the evaluation and monitoring of our $60 billion private equity and debt portfolio. As part of the investment process, the Investment Analyst will interact with senior investment professionals on a daily basis.

The Investment Analyst, operating in a team environment, will be given growing responsibility over time and high performers can expect career advancement opportunities (Senior Analyst and Associate).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Four-year undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or mathematics and a track record of academic excellence.
  • A broad knowledge of investments, an understanding of economic forces affecting a broad range of industries, proficiency in accounting, strong computer modeling skills, and intellectual curiosity.
  • The ability to communicate effectively.
  • The Investment Analyst position is a two to three-year assignment, and high performers can expect promotion to Senior Analyst and potentially Associate.
