Database Solutions Architect (PostgreSQL on Nutanix Cloud and AWS Cloud)

Job Summary

Nutanix Database Engineering Solutions team is responsible for development/test of Best Practices and Reference Architecture guides regarding Databases on Nutanix, as well as helping out with pre and post-sales support .

We work in a collaborative environment where everyone is encouraged to try new things and come up with new solutions. Within the DB Engineering Solutions team, you'll find no shortage of challenging problems to work on.

Database Solutions Architect combines knowledge across a wide range of products / technologies (Operating Systems, Databases, Virtualization) and hands-on experience with public cloud solutions (IaaS, PaaS, etc).

Responsibilities:

• Work with internal customers (SE’s), prospects and customers helping on how to deploy PostgreSQL workloads on Nutanix platform
• Develop automation for running benchmarks, collect and interpret results
• Evaluate new upcoming technologies and provide feedback on the technologies to keep an eye/invest on
• Provide help to install, support, and maintain Nutanix solutions during strategic Proof of Concept (POC) deployments
• Stay well ahead of the learning curve in your area of expertise and related business trends

Requirements: 

• Knowledge of PostgreSQL (mandatory) from a Systems Architect or DBA point of view
• Knowledge of HA and backup solutions strategies for PostgreSQL
• Experience with PostgreSQL offerings from EDB , AWS Aurora is highly desirable
• Familiar with one or more of the following domains - Databases (Oracle ,MS-SQL ), Storage (SAN/NAS/HCI), Virtualization
• Experience with trouble shooting and debugging in Linux or Windows environments.
• Knowledge of PowerShell, Bash scripting, Python, T-SQL
• Experience with infrastructure automation frameworks such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet etc.
• Understanding of Virtualization, Networking, Operation System
• Experience with commercial or open-source database engines
• Hands on experience with Benchmarking tools like HammerDB, Benchmark Factory, or others
• Knowledge of public cloud solutions/offerings like AWS RDS, Azure, GCP is a plus
• Flexible, dependable, self-starter, capable of quickly learning new products and technologies
• Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as excellent presentation skills
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software development, or equivalent work experience
• Previous experience as a test automation engineer
• Excellent problem-solving skills
