Position summary

The Specialist Solutions Architect (Database) is a customer-focused technology specialist that provides sales support, Consulting guidance and hands-on experience to customers and partners. The Portfolio specialist collaborates with Nutanix & partner Sales team to identify potential customers, use cases and develops a healthy pipeline to grow portfolio business across a varied section of customers. He or she would be responsible to work with sales teams to grow business and will be measured on business closed, pipeline generated and adoption of Nutanix portfolio products into customers mainstream operations. Being part of this team will allow you to maintain and develop your deep technical expertise across Nutanix and non-Nutanix technologies.

This person acts in a consultative fashion and is looked to as an expert in his/her field by the Nutanix sales team, business partners and customers. 

  • Articulating a compelling value proposition for customers from a technology perspective.
  • Enhancing value and differentiators for customer business outcomes and our competitors
  • Selling effective value-added business portfolio solutions
  • Delivering increased sales profitability

Responsibility

  • Be the key technical leader and influencer in shaping customer decisions to buy and adopt Nutanix Era, serving as a product specialist and trusted advisor for end customers and field sales teams.
  • Present, demonstrate, and help execute advanced proof of concepts for Nutanix Era and drive customer engagements from early conversations to decision making evaluations.
  • Design and plan for implementation for Nutanix Era solutions in conjunction with Nutanix Consulting Services.
  • Ensure technical alignment/feasibility of the Nutanix solution for the customer’s required business outcome.
  • Primary technical point of contact to liaison between customer and Nutanix Engineering for high value customers.
  • Influence Nutanix Era strategies by providing feedback to sales, marketing, and engineering on current and future product requirements and sales blockers encountered

You will be a thought leader in the DBA and Database space. You lead by participating in internal Nutanix technical communities and in the broader industry events and publishing blogs, whitepapers, and reference architectures in your area of expertise.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Appliance and Software pre-sales and technical sales
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-adapting environment, working with cross-functional teams and leveraging company resources to drive sales using a combination of top-down and bottom-up tactics.
  • Experience growing products from early adopter customers to the late majority is a plus
  • Must be a strong communicator and presenter with excellent writing skills with a penchant for organization, constant follow-up and attention to detail.
  • Expert level experience with MS SQL or Oracle (design, management, backup/DR, migration)
  • Secondary experience with PostgreSQL, SAP, and/or other virtualized database solutions.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure and/or Google clouds
  • Competitive experience with Database solutions
  • Job requires about 40-50% of travel

Proven experience one or more of the following areas:

  • Application and Server Virtualization understanding & selling.
  • Maintain relationships with a broad set of resources at all levels of a customer organization
  • Deep understanding of sales techniques and processes including the ability to understand customer needs, overcome objections, assist in the development of business cases and close deals
  • Flexible, dependable, self-starter, capable of quickly learning new products and technologies
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to travel within the ASEAN on occasion and as required
  • Experience selling compute, databases & apps
  • Conceptual understanding of databases & their practical use cases.
  • Extraordinary teammate that works well in dynamic situations and startup environments
  • Deliver on Nutanix ERA deep expertise, resources, collaborate with PM, Engineering & Support as the need may be.
