The Senior Manager of User Research will establish and lead a world class user research program at On Deck. In this role you will cultivate a deep understanding user personas, journey map, needs, behaviors and motivations. As a key member of the Product leadership team, you will help build new products and propositions to disrupt the financial industry by building a human centered design culture in everything we do. You will bring the right user research tools to bear - ethnographic field studies, contextual inquiries, panel studies, intercepts, concept testing, usability lab studies. You’ll inspire change at all stages of product development by delivering exciting oral, written and visual presentations about your findings.

As Senior Manager of User Research at OnDeck, you will:

  • Build out your team of user researchers
  • Work closely with product teams to identify research topics
  • Collect and analyze user behavior through server logs, online experiments, benchmark studies, and surveys
  • Design studies that address both user behavior and attitudes
  • Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs
  • Advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and oral presentations
  • Work cross-functionally with UX design, product management, engineering and marketing
  • Synthesize insights, communicate results, and illustrate suggestions in compelling and creative ways 


Necessary qualifications for success:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Social Science or a related field
  • 5+ years experience in applied product research
  • Knowledge of quantitative, behavioral analysis, and statistical concepts
  • Knowledgeable about user experience design, visual design, color theory
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and collaboration skills
  • Passion for OnDeck’s mission
  • Focus on how your research impacts design
  • Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase.
  • Strong background in design thinking
