    Job Description

    The Commercial Strategy & Insights (CSI) department at Otsuka is responsible for conducting primary market research and competitive intelligence to generate deep customer insights that inform business decision making to address the needs of patients, caregivers, physicians, payers, and other ecosystem stakeholders.  The CSI team works collaboratively with various Otsuka functions (e.g., marketing, medical affairs, patient experience, market access, field teams, and others) to identify key business questions (KBQs) that need to be answered to meet patient needs and to inform business strategies and tactics for the company, both globally and for the US.

    The CSI intern will report into the Director of Commercial Strategy & Insights (CSI) for CNS (Central Nervous System) and will work on specific market research and competitive intelligence projects to support Otsuka’s business needs in psychiatry.  The CSI intern will also collaborate with other members of the CSI team and cross-functional Otsuka business partners, including marketing, patient experience & support services, medical affairs, patient advocacy, and others.  The CSI intern is expected to actively participate in business meetings/discussions, engage in a rich learning & development environment, and to contribute to important business decisions that will address patient needs.

    The CSI intern will work with our CNS Directors and Managers to execute important market research and competitive intelligence projects, including tracking studies such as HCP & Patient ATUs; BrandImpact Sales Force Effectiveness & Detail Message Recall tracking studies; selected qualitative research, such as IDIs and focus groups; survey design; data analysis; and competitive landscape analysis.  There will also be an opportunity for the intern to leverage syndicated data/reports from the Otsuka IRC (Information Resource Center) to help analyze the CNS businesses.  Most of the intern’s work will focus on projects supporting customer insights generation for Rexulti and Abilify Maintena.

    Importantly, the CSI intern will be asked to deliver one project that will contribute to the further growth and adoption of the Customer Engagement Model (CEM) to elevate the positive impact on customers and ecosystem stakeholders.  Specifically, the CSI intern will execute the measurement, analysis, and reporting of the impact of the CEM on ecosystem stakeholders.

    Qualifications/ Required

    Educational Qualifications

    Minimum

    • Undergraduate or Graduate student

    • Minimum 3.5 GPA

    • At least Sophomore or higher

    • Preferred majors include marketing, psychology, mathematics/statistics, as well as other commercial oriented research disciplines

    • Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

    • Demonstrates behaviors aligned with the Otsuka Corporate Brand including Perseverance, Unconventional Thinking, and Humility

    • Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment

    • Demonstrate ability to think creatively to solve complex problems

    • Exhibits eagerness to learn and ability to learn quickly
