    Position summary

    Overview

    Diesel Mechanic I Full Time I Calgary I Afternoon shift I

    • $43.00 Base rate

    • $45.50 With CVIP Inspection License

    • $ 1.60 Shift premium between 5pm - 6am

    Hours: 40 hours weekly

    Shift: Afternoon Shift - 2:00pm - 10:30pm / Night Shift 10pm-8:30am Sunday - Wednesday 10 hour shifts
    Qualification: Alberta Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment technician (On Road)

    Responsibilities

    What you will be doing:

    • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned

    • Diagnose vehicle failures and perform mechanical repairs and replacements as required

    • Respond to local road calls and/or coordinate service support as necessary

    • Maintain work area appearance and safety

    • Perform all assigned duties in a safe and productive manner

    • Leverage predictive diagnostic software to aid in eliminating vehicle breakdowns

    • Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments; as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks and hoists

    • Maintain accurate records of daily activities through asset management system

    • Complete all necessary documents, including eHOS and electronic vehicle inspection records

    • Other duties and tasks assigned by Fleet Supervisor/Manager

    Qualifications

    • On Road Red Seal or Alberta Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
    • High school diploma or equivalent is required
    • Commercial Vehicle Inspection certificate ( Eligible )
    • Valid class 1 with air endorsement operators license is preferred, will consider class 3 with air endorsement.
    • Dedication to safety; a safety leader to help drive a strong safety culture
    • Working knowledge in use of hand tools is required
    • Strong computer and mathematical skillset
    • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, reliability and flexibility while working as part of the team
    • Cost exposure to the company is greater than $1000
