Ensuring our Gatorade Performance Portfolio brands are backed and led by science is a fundamental aspect of the GSSI program, a team which sits within the Life Sciences R&D Category. As a part of GSSI, the incumbent of this Associate Principal Scientist role will be responsible for designing and leading youth-athlete centered research studies. The role reports to the lead of the GSSI-IMG satellite laboratory which is part of the Life Sciences Science and Technology Team.
Responsibilities
Developing novel research questions and designing study protocols that contribute to the broader scientific community specific to youth athlete nutrition and physiology.
Working with GSSI staff to execute the lab-based research program at the GSSI at IMG Academy satellite lab.
Providing leadership to junior scientists who will be assisting in the day-to-day execution of the lab and field-based research projects including the scheduling of subjects as well as the collection, management, and evaluation of data.
Effectively liaising with IMG Academy coaches/staff to translate the science, data, and protocols used for meaningful and usable strategies of value.
Using experience, creativity, and an innovative approach to develop, test, and periodically refine the athlete-testing protocols conducted within the lab with an emphasis on sports nutrition personalization.
Assisting when needed with lab- and field-based testing for the purpose of elite athlete service, pre-dominantly at locations within the US.
Collaborating across the wider GSSI team (US and Internationally based colleagues) on research, innovation, service, and education initiatives.
Compensation and Benefits:
The expected compensation range for this position is between $89,000 - $149,000.
Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 10% of annual salary paid out annually.
Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
Master's (PhD strongly preferred) in Sports Nutrition, Exercise Science/Kinesiology, or related discipline with 3+ years' experience in lab (and ideally field-based) research (PhD 2+ years)
Demonstrable knowledge in the areas of hydration, metabolism and/or sports nutrition and application in elite sport.
Publishing record with experience producing first authored peer-reviewed research.
Three or more years of experience working with athletes/influencers, including youth and elite athletes.
Demonstrable experience with sport-related data handling and interpretation. An excellent understanding of statistics relating to exercise science highly preferred.
The incumbent must have a pro-active work style, able to multitask, and be flexible to work in a high-performance and ever-changing environment.
Flexibility and willingness for travel and occasional work during non-traditional hours (including weekends) (approximately 10-15%).
Project management/business management experience preferred.
Self-starter with good interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with various personalities and work styles.
