Designs, enhances and implements computer and information networks, such as Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks. Performs network modeling, analysis, and planning. May also design network and computer security measures. Responsible for researching and recommending network and data communications hardware and software. Installs, configures, and support an organization's LAN, WAN, and Internet systems or a segment of a network system. Monitor network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software and hardware related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Ensures availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers, workstations, and data storage systems Monitors LAN, WAN and servers. Provides batch monitoring, backup and restoration as needed. Monitors and conducts performance evaluation of networks. Supports, installs, maintains and trouble shoots hardware and network devices and related software. Mentors network and computers system administrators. Provide on-call support to AVAC.
SWAC and Network Architecture Dev: The contractor shall work with SSDP Business Operations and relevant SSDP divisions to design, build, and operate the infrastructure to support the needs of the MS&A tools and personnel associated with the Space Warfare MS&A Capability center. The infrastructure must include a high power computing capability to work at a range of classification levels, from UNCLASSIFIED to SAP, and interface or be built upon existing SSDP networks such as RANGER and BATLAN and support the development, integration and interoperability of existing M&S tools. The architecture should also be able to interface with distributed AFSPC MS&A activities to ensure interoperability and level of effort. Additionally, the network architect shall create and maintain shared database(s) of models and scenarios; document requirements for development and management of shared repositories for models, simulations, data, techniques, tools and best practices; as well as document methods to increase the interoperability, commonality, and reuse of M&S tools, data, and services.
Minimum 18 yrs industry experience in engineering and technology managing computer networks in the DoD environment. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education. Bachelor or Masters of Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited college or university, MCP (or equivalent) required. DoD 8570 certification, CISSP certification, CISM certification, CompTIA Security+ Certification required. One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required experience.
