The Defense group supports the Department of Defense (DoD) mission to keep our homeland and its citizens safe. We provide solutions to improve the Nation's defense by providing software, systems engineering, IT, training and logistics and fleet management solutions.
Provides support and mentorship to NSWCCD Project Managers in planning, managing, and monitoring technical projects through their life cycles, including identifying project milestones, deliverables, and associated schedules. Assists in keeping tracking tools, such a Microsoft Project, up-to-date. Prepares graphical presentations of Work Breakdown Structures (WBSs), Program Evaluation Review Technique (PERT) charts, Gantt schedule and milestone charts, Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), and other program management planning and forecasting tools. Develops metrics and associated historical and forecasting charts for Earned Value Management (EVM). Assists in developing multi-disciplinary project schedule, financial reporting, and performance data monitoring and assessment in support of Navy ship R&D programs within NSWCCD Technical Excellence Instruction guidelines. Assists project managers with evaluating and monitoring the performance and efficiency of programs to ensure that program implementation is on target.
Duration nominally 6-12 months with potential for longer term.
Requires a miminum of 5 years with BS/BA in business or technical field. Technical management degree is highly desirable. Active DoD security clearance (Secret or above) is desired but not a prerequisite. Must have a DoD Confidential clearance, at a minimum. Experience with Earned Value Management for technical/engineering and R&D projects is a plus. Ability to express ideas clearly and succinctly both verbally and through the written word is essential. Above all, candidate must possess demonstrable experience in successful implementation of project planning tools and performance metrics, including a minimum of two years of experience using Microsoft Project.
