Reporting to the Site Services Lead, you will be responsible for the support of the manufacturing control systems at the Pfizer Franklin facility including platforms such as Microsoft Windows Server, Rockwell Control/HMI/Information Automation Software, Continuum Software, and Cyber Security Programs. You will collaborate with teams at the site to support investigations as the automation subject matter expert. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for identifying, managing, and implementing changes following site change control procedures.
The successful candidate will be service oriented, delivery focused, and can build rapport with key members of the operations and site services teams specifying and implementing automation changes, fixes, and improvement projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer management skills combined with a broad range of technical skills in client/server, network architecture, and PLC system control.
Lead maintenance of existing controls network including cyber security systems. This includes preventative maintenance, spares, training programs, and data integrity initiatives.
Provide support and troubleshoot controls network and PLC controlled manufacturing equipment while understanding impact of actions to Manufacturing and Facilities equipment.
Participate in the development of automation system life cycle documents to meet cGMP requirements (i.e. validation, SOPs, periodic review, and PM).
Provide input and direction for the site Digital and eManufactuing Roadmap; to advance site digital maturity and promote system integrations with the goal of a fully connected and predictive plant.
Provide input and direction for site technology road map to advance site process analytical technology.
Provide technical expertise in automation network administration.
Support audit/inspection readiness and participate in audits and regulatory inspections as required.
Carry out root cause analysis, incident investigations and troubleshooting issues related to electrical, instrumentation, and equipment control.
Resolve issues by engaging with global engineering, cyber security, and/or site digital lead.
Support new projects and system upgrades, ensuring the equipment meets site requirements.
Any other activities as directed by Site Services Lead.
High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 8 years of relevant experience in industry, preferably in a pharmaceutical or relevant GMP manufacturing environment.
Associate's degree with particular emphasis in Automation, Digital Networking, Electrical/Electronics, and/or Computer Science discipline and 6 years of experience in industry, preferably in a pharmaceutical or relevant GMP manufacturing environment.
Bachelor's degree with particular emphasis in Automation, Digital Networking, Electrical/Electronics, and/or Computer Science discipline with at least 3 years of experience in industry, preferably in a pharmaceutical or relevant GMP manufacturing environment.
Master's degree with particular emphasis in Automation, Digital Networking, Electrical/Electronics, and/or Computer Science discipline and more than 1 year of experience in industry, preferably in a pharmaceutical or relevant GMP manufacturing environment.
System integration experience supporting SCADA systems such as Rockwell FactoryTalk in a manufacturing environment. Programing experience in platforms such as Rockwell PlantPAx and Batch/Sequence Manager.
Broad understanding of control systems architecture, operations, and related components.
Excellent working knowledge of server/client systems and IT technologies, including MS server administration.
Experience in maintaining control networks and communications such as Device Net, ControlNet, and Ethernet.
Focused and passionate about production support.
Demonstrated Problem solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of Cyber Security including Cisco Firewall, Claroty, and Digital Immunity is an advantage for this role.
Sound knowledge of electrical systems including safety standards and building codes is preferred.
Experience with batch process equipment, advance control modeling, multivariable control, and statistical process control is ideal.
Work schedule is day shift, Monday - Friday.
The work environment ranges from office to plant.
Work outside of normal hours may be required on an infrequent basis to support planned shutdowns or significant production interruptions.
