    Position summary

    Role Summary

    Pfizer has established a chief digital office which will lead the transformation of Pfizer into a digital powerhouse that will generate superior patient experiences that will result in better health outcomes. Our collection of data scientists, business analysts and engineers are at the forefront of Pfizer’s transformation into a digitally driven organization leveraging data and advanced analytics to change patient’s lives.

    As a senior associate data engineer you will be part of the Enterprise Data Solutions and Engineering team charged with building and automating high quality data pipelines that power both advanced analytics/AI/ML and key business applications. You will be a member of a global team helping to progress commercial go-to-market strategies.

    Role responsibilities

    • Leverage data wrangling techniques to deliver data pipelines that Ingest and integrate data from various information sources and deliver high quality data products that drive analytics and data science applications

    • Translate data needs into intro programable queries and convert Python based data wrangling code into PySpark/SQL pipelines for scalable pushdown execution

    • Develop automated and self-monitoring data pipelines including automated QA/QC processes

    • Conduct basic data profiling and quality checks

    • Fine tune performance on datasets for visualization and other applications

    • Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support data infrastructure needs

    Qualifications

    • 3 years of work experience as a data engineer for a diverse range of projects

    • 2+ years working in a cloud based analytics ecosystem (AWS, Snowflake, etc)

    • Experience with working with various types of data (structured / unstructured)

    • Understanding of data ingestion, data warehousing, and data model concepts

    • Knowledge of relational and dimensional data structures, theories, and practices

    • Proficient in SQL, Python, and/or R

    • Strong hands-on skills in data software engineering (e.g., Python, industrialized ETL software)

    • Strong hands-on skills in containerization (e.g. AWS EKS, Kubernetes)

    • Strong hands-on skills for data pipeline orchestration (e.g. Airflow)

    • Understanding of data science development lifecycle (e.g CRISP)

    • Demonstrated aptitude and attitude to get immersed in the resolution of technical challenges and technical advancements

    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cultures and to connect and engage with colleagues at all levels of the organization including the shop floor and the Pfizer leadership

    • Demonstrated ability to make decisions quickly; shift direction with just enough information; and operate effectively in gray areas

    • Demonstrated collaborative, consultative, problem solving, prioritization skills

    Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline

    • Understanding of agile project approaches and methodologies

    • Highly self-motivated to deliver both independently and with strong team collaboration.

    • Ability to creatively take on new challenges and work outside comfort zone.

    • Strong written and oral communications along with presentation and interpersonal skills.

    • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and analytics techniques.

    Preferred qualifications

    • Experience with Dataiku is a plus

    • Hands on experience working in Agile teams, processes, and practices

    Non-standard work schedule, Travel or Environment requirements

    • 20% travel to other Pfizer locations

    • Ability to work non-traditional work hours on a constant basis interacting with remote teams spanning across the different regions (eg: Europe, AfME, Asia)
