    In your role of Director, Business Analytics & Assay Project Management within Pfizer Vaccines Research Development’s (VRD) High-throughput Immunoassays & diagnostics (HCID) organization, you will oversee and manage the operational aspects of projects within the scope of High-throughput Business Analytics and Assay Project Management under HCID Operations. You will oversee and lead a team of project managers tasked with managing clinical assay lifecycle progression from development through validation and a team of business analysts tasked with scoping out innovative business and digital solutions for VRD’s high-throughput clinical testing operation. 

    You will work cross-functionally with many stakeholder groups including VRD’s Assay Development, Biostatistics, Records Management, Robotics & Automation, Cell Culture Technologies, External Laboratory Management Assay Development, and Research Informatics groups to ensure that our assays and support systems are ready for Pfizer’s growing vaccines portfolio. Your managerial, leadership and decision-making skills will help us develop the next generation of leaders, technological and financial resources within the division. 

    You will be responsible for the status of projects and will communicate across functional lines to ensure completion of projects on time and in accordance with VRD business needs. You will assess project issues, make decisions and develop resolutions to meet VRD objectives and quality standards. You will also develop and own the mechanisms for monitoring project progress and communicating effectively to team members, stakeholder and VRD executive leadership. Through your expertise and extensive knowledge, you will foster a culture that promotes innovation and thrives on doing better for patients and healthcare. 

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Works with HCID leaders to ensure proper resource planning and laboratory operations support for HCID projects. 
    • Identifies opportunities for HCID process improvement, make decisions and scope out solutions. 
    • Sets objectives for multiple assay-related projects/ ongoing work activities of high complexity within Pfizer HCID. 
    • Works with various HCID and cross-functional leaders to ensure assay related projects are resourced properly and completed on time. 
    • Leads the VRD monthly Assay Prioritization meetings and achieve alignment on priorities and required resources. 
    • Provides PM to drive HCID improvement projects to completion. 
    • Understands interdependencies of HCID’s internal functions and groups and ensure clear and open lines of communications across the HCID and supporting groups / partners.
    • Leads relationship management with key groups related to laboratory operations and the various functional support areas.
    • Supports HCID-led major transformational initiatives involving cross-functional teams that include multiple business partner constituents. 
    • Builds and maintains a diverse and inclusive team culture and support Pfizer’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion objectives within the business unit.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

    • Bachelor’s Degree and 14+ years of industrial work experience in project management and business analytics. 
    • Proven success in people management, leadership, decision-making and talent development.
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Visio, Project, SharePoint, and Office Suite (Office 365) including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Experience in process excellence and performance improvement tools, techniques and concepts. 
    • Success in leading and motivating highly skilled professionals.
    • Excellent communication skills to enable interactions at various levels in the organization. 
    • Ability to work in a matrix environment. 
    • Demonstrated ability to create, implement and take ownership of innovative solutions that will serve future business needs.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s or professional degree and relevant vaccines / pharmaceutical experience.  
    • PMP / BA Certifications
    • Ability to drive standardization of approach. 
    • Experience integrating teams. 
    • Ability to facilitate complex, technical training and workshops.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

    • This position will routinely interact with the HCID leadership team and laboratory managers, Clinical & Diagnostic Assay Development, Robotics & Automation, Cell Culture Technologies, Vaccines Program Management, Vaccine Research Informatics, Pfizer Digital, Preclinical Biostatistics, VRD Records Management and VRD Executive Leadership. 
    • RESOURCES MANAGED
    • Provides budgetary requirements to HCID leadership and VRD finance leads regarding resources needed to accomplish tasks.
    • Reports to the Senior Director, HCID Operations & Support Services and has 8 to 10 direct reports.

     
    Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
     

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Work is primarily performed at an office desk with a computer.
    • Requires the ability to perform mathematical calculations and complex data analyses.

    NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS 

    • May require occasional weekend and evening work to meet critical business timelines. 

    • May require occasional travel to meetings, between Pfizer sites and other business-related travel.
