    Position summary

    ROLE SUMMARY

    Reporting to the VP, Strategy & Consulting (Specialty Care and Oncology), this role is responsible for working with senior leaders of the Specialty Care and Oncology Business Segments to shape, develop, and enable execution of strategies that will advance the business and expand the impact on patients. The Specialty Care Segment spans Inflammation, Immunology, Rare Disease, and Hospital (e.g., Anti-infectives - antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals). The Oncology Segment focuses on major cancer types, including Breast, Genitourinary, and Hematology among others. Collectively, the Specialty Care and Oncology Segments are responsible for the global strategy across these therapeutic areas and products, as well as the US P&L for these businesses. 

    The scope of the role will include all areas under the purview of the group, including research, development, commercial and commercial development. While this position reports into the Strategy & Consulting team organizationally, this person will partner closely with leadership teams to stay connected to key business challenges and opportunities, ensure that there is alignment with strategic priorities, and adjust priorities when necessary. The Director, Strategy & Consulting, Specialty Care & Oncology will have a scope that includes contributions to Specialty Care and Oncology strategic planning, scoping and management of projects related to key strategic issues, and insight and assessment of market signals that could impact business performance or strategic direction.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Partner with business segments and division leaders to develop business strategies at a global, regional and, where appropriate, a local level. Identify key strategic imperatives and capabilities required to achieve these imperatives.

    • Contribute to the completion of an annual strategic plan, as well as a strategy action plan that manages the execution of the strategies.

    • Lead, direct, or actively participate in a portfolio of projects that provide insight and direction for key strategic levers such as market development, customer needs assessment, competitive advantage, market and/or product prioritization, and provide day-to-day oversight to project teams of colleagues with varying levels of experience.

    • Develop a deep expertise in market dynamics to identify market trends and appropriately assess opportunities and guide strategic direction.

    • Develop external relationships that provide perspective of the diverse eco-system outside of Pfizer as it relates to the areas of the business you support.

    • Actively participate in the Strategy & Consulting team, supporting Pfizer strategy through the perspective and experience of the organizations you support, and collaborate to identify opportunities across commercial categories for alignment or best-practice sharing.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum 6 years of relevant healthcare experience required, including experience working in or with commercial functions involving strategy development and/or strategic initiatives (e.g., marketing, commercial development, market access, etc.).

    • 3+ years of biopharmaceutical consulting experience strongly preferred.

    • Experience in one or more Specialty Care and Oncology therapeutic areas (Inflammation, Immunology, Rare Disease, Anti-infectives - antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals, and Oncology strongly preferred.

    • Understands trends and market dynamics in US and Global healthcare and biopharmaceuticals, aware of competitor strategies, and understands the drug development process.

    • Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organization without direct authority (Global BU President, global therapeutic area leaders, and functional counterparts). Must be able to influence executive commercial and research & development leaders.

    • Demonstrated strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to tee up the right questions, identify alternative scenarios, articulate resulting implications, and develop recommendations for decision-making or action.

    • Ability to understand and translate market and competitive dynamics into strategic implications for the BU.

    • Demonstrated project leadership, managing complex workstreams and large teams of cross-functional colleagues with varying backgrounds and skillsets.

    • Demonstrated ability and experience in overseeing the day-to-day work of junior resources, including providing coaching, mentorship, and development.

    • Basic understanding of finance and P&L implications of any strategy.

    • Ability to work with complex information and distill into a framework that helps facilitate decision making.

    • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead with indirect authority.

    • Excellent presentation skills sufficient to address Global BU Leadership, and external audiences.

    • Strong command of English language, spoken and written.

    • BA/BS – required, life sciences degree helpful. MBA and /or advanced degree in a related field is strongly preferred.

    • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

    Additional Location Information: This is not a remote-eligible role. The position will be physically tied to the New York office.

    Eligible for Relocation Package

    For roles based in New York City: The annual base salary for this position ranges from $156,900 to $261,500. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.

    The annual base salary for this position ranges from $156,900.00 to $251,400.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Salary range does not apply to the Tampa, FL location.
