    What You Will Achieve

    You will be part of a dynamic team of experts who form Pfizer’s Environment, Health & Safety division. Due to the importance of this team for Pfizer’s employees and patients, the organization relies heavily on its team members’ timely actions and decision-making ability. You will be responsible for activities involved in interpreting, recommending and compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations/company policies, and also assist in planning the changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements. You will guide teams in preparing contracts for licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal firms, monitoring waste handling and organizing spill-control teams. Your strong knowledge base will guide the activities for updating manuals and procedures as well as preparing environmental impact statements and applying for permits/renewals. Your expertise in this field will be leveraged for providing inputs to federal and state regulators through trade associations and industry groups for the writing and revision of regulations.

    As a Manager, you provide guidance to operational teams for managing projects. Your planning skills will help in preparing forecasts for resource requirements, and providing areas of improvement for products, processes or services. Through your comprehensive knowledge of principles, concepts and theories of the discipline, you will also work towards advancing new concepts and methodologies. You will be able to take a leadership role to facilitate agreements between different teams.

    How You Will Achieve It

    • Administering comprehensive EHS programs including SOP’s, training, and applications of such programs to facilitate Pfizer compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Pfizer guidelines addressing safety, environmental, health, and loss prevention requirements. 
    • Lead in the tracking of EHS metrics related to CAPA, Injury Reduction initiatives, etc. 
    • Analyze existing and planned changes in processes, equipment, facilities, and programs to develop and implement proactive strategies to minimize injury, illness, property loss, impact on the environment, and business interruption.
    • Drive implementation of EHS goals & strategies through trainings, team development, and management system implementation.
    • Recognizes, identifies, and evaluates environmental, health and safety hazards.  Assesses the probability, magnitude, and potential financial impact of the risks, and develops feasible, cost effective, control alternatives. Provides consultation on complex EHS issues. Recommends cost effective control alternatives to management.
    • Interacts effectively with a wide variety of areas and a broad spectrum of people with diverse backgrounds, and accountabilities (i.e., operating, technical, management, regulatory).  Communication and presentations at internal & external meetings. 
    • Conducts comprehensive environmental, health & safety assessments to evaluate adherence to applicable governmental EHS regulations, and Pfizer policies and guidelines.
    • Develops, implements, and administers safety, environmental and ergonomic programs affecting Pfizer colleagues, the physical facility, and contractors working on Site.
    • Maintains a thorough understanding and working knowledge of existing and proposed changes in federal and state industrial hygiene, safety, environmental and loss prevention regulations, which affect Pfizer operations.  May participate in the standard setting and regulatory process at the state and local levels to affect the promulgation of effective and practical regulations and standards.
    • Participates in regulatory inspections and inquiries involving environmental, health and safety issues.  Acts as a consultant/ technical expert during resolution of any proposed corrective actions.
    • Provides technical training to appropriate individuals or groups on environmental, health and safety issues.  Trains other individuals with training responsibilities in order that they can communicate information to others within their organizations, as needed.
    • Assist in hazardous waste compliance including RCRA and DOT adherence for waste shipments from the site. 
    • Aid in the deployment and execution of any corrective and preventative actions related to EHS as a result of internal and external audits.
    • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of EHS computer databases and utilizes a wide variety of other internal and external databases (including but not limited to SAP, Ariba, Enablon, 3E, ISN, Cority, QTS, and PDOCS).  Conducts detailed analyses of work-related accidents, employee exposures, and chemical and environmental information.  Conducts analyses to identify trends, including costs and potential risks, as needed.  Formulate cost effective alternatives for corrective actions.
    • Provide 24-hour response to assist in the resolution of emergency first aid and spill response incidents.
    • Successfully completes training required to perform job assignments and seeks out additional training opportunities to enhance skills and abilities for program compliance and improvements.
    • Understands and complies with company practices and policies in general and maintains working knowledge of the applicable Pfizer requirements (e.g., EHS Management Systems, EHS Standards, etc.).
    • Maintains a knowledge of the capital project system and participates on project teams as directed.
    • Maintains a knowledge and understanding of current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) as they relate to Pfizer Operations.
    • Ensures all the EHS Teams across the site are meeting monthly at a minimum.  Leads efforts for the Site EHS Team.  Challenges the status quo of all EHS Teams to ensure robust actions are being generated and closed on time. 
    • Provides direction and support of EHS management system development and implementation within the site.

    Qualifications

    Must-Have

    • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience developing and implementing of EHS programs OR
    • Master's Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience developing and implementing of EHS programs OR
    • Associate's Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience developing and implementing of EHS programs OR
    • 10+ years of relevant experience developing and implementing of EHS programs.
    • Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project Management, Power Point and Teams).
    • Proven experience of working in the field with area owners to identify and implement the best solutions.
    • Extensive experience in conducting incident investigations and corrective/preventive actions.
    • Excellent organizational, planning and leadership skills.
    • Ability to successfully influence and engage with multiple levels of the organization and the proven ability to lead cross functional teams is required.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Nice-to-Have

    • Preferred experience in working in a Chemical, Petrochemical or Pharmaceutical environment.  
    • Experience in design of experiments and statistical analysis.
    • CSP certification
    • Experience in Project Management and Lean Concepts (Green Belt / Deming principles)
    • Certification in ISO-based management systems
    • Leading teams with established results

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Able to stand or walk for periods of 8 hours or more.
    • Sit for extended periods.
    • Must be able to pass a medical exam for use of a self-contained respirator.
    • Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities and can perform exceptionally under high stress conditions.
    • Able to meet deadlines, both internally and externally.
    • Ability to work on teams.
