What You Will Achieve

You will be part of a dynamic team of experts who form Pfizer’s Environment, Health & Safety division. Due to the importance of this team for Pfizer’s employees and patients, the organization relies heavily on its team members’ timely actions and efficiency.

You will be responsible for activities related to compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations/company policies. You will also assist in planning the changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements. You will support the team in preparing contracts for licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal firms, monitoring waste handling and organizing spill-control teams. Your knowledge base will help you in updating environmental and spill-control manuals and procedures.

As an associate, your focus on the job will contribute in achieving project tasks and goals. Through your domain knowledge and commitment, you will create a collaborative team environment for your colleagues.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Conduct compliance assessments, inspections and sampling related to federal, state, and local water regulations and site-specific permits (NPDES, SWPPP, SDWA, POTW, Groundwater, etc.)

  • Perform gap assessments of site compliance methods and regulatory requirements, specific to water regulations.

  • Assist water compliance team during agency and global EHS inspections/audits.

  • Coordinate and conduct routine sampling required for water compliance programs.

  • Investigate unintended releases, identify source, mitigate impact.

  • Support 24/7 manufacturing operations by assessing change control and capital project impact to compliance with water regulations and permits.

  • Complete verification activities including records review.

  • Contribute to the completion of project tasks and milestones.

  • Organize own work to meet project task deadlines.

  • Conduct Environment, Health & Safety (local applications) trainings.

  • Formulate cost effective alternatives for corrective actions.

  • Participate in risk assessment process and guide the team in conducting the assessment and suggesting suitable controls in guidance from supervisor.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Applicant must have a High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 6 years of relevant experience.

  • OR an Associate's degree with 4 years of experience.

  • OR a Bachelor's degree with 0+ years of experience.

  • Experience in environmental compliance, especially the manufacturing facilities.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Interacts effectively with a wide variety of areas and a broad spectrum of people with diverse backgrounds, and accountabilities.

  • Good knowledge of computer operation and MS Office, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-Have

  • Stormwater Operator certifications (Industrial, soil erosion and sedimentation control, construction); can be obtained within 6 months of hire date.

  • Experience working in manufacturing environment, with Good Manufacturing Practices.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and perform complex data analysis. 

  • Self-driven, insightful.

  • Basic physical requirements such as standing, walking (indoors and outdoors), and stairway access. 

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Standard work schedule, Monday – Friday, days; may infrequently require off-shift and weekend support of 24/7 manufacturing operations.

  • Off-hours spill response rotation: 3-4 weeks during the year

  • Little to no travel required.
