    Position summary

    Role Summary

    The Enterprise Platforms & Security (EP&S) team delivers the following capabilities for Pfizer. Business application platforms supporting Pfizer’s enterprise application and critical business processes.  Infrastructure allowing business traffic to travel where it needs to go, internally and externally, along with the appropriate access controls.  EP&S secures Pfizer's most important information assets through world class controls and protections and enables Pfizer's business results by making security an enabler and not a roadblock to achieving business results.

    The Developer Products and Platforms (DPP) group within EP&S owns and operates platforms that help EP&S and its customers build, deploy, and run leading-edge products on-premises and in the cloud.  DPP platforms are the standard for the delivery of secure, integrated, scalable, and reliable products.

    As a DPP software engineer you will develop next-generation technology. You will be a technical member of a team using agile development methodologies and DevOps to provide continuous delivery of solutions. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the technology stack as we continue to push technology forward.  You will be responsible for delivering high quality software solutions.  This role requires strong collaboration skills, the ability to work independently with a focus on high quality and a strong sense of accountability. The role also requires a strong desire for continuous learning to stay current with the rapidly evolving global technology landscape and significant attention to detail and quality.

    Role Responsibilities

    • Work closely with the Product Manager and the team to build the best products.
    • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software.
    • Coach and mentor junior software engineers
    • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices are met (e.g., style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
    • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
    • Focus on overall product quality and user experience.
    • Collaborate with customers and EP&S service teams to solve problems and build solutions
    • Provide technical expertise throughout the product life cycle, including design, implementation, and delivery of scalable services and infrastructure.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
    • 5+ years of software development experience
    • Experience in Java, C/C++, C#, Python, JavaScript, or Go.
    • Experience in any of the following: Unix/Linux environments, cloud platforms, distributed/parallel systems, machine learning, networking, systems/security software development.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively document software designs and communicate implementation details. 

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Cloud-specific experience with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform
    • Familiarity and/or previous experience with Agile (e.g., Scrum) is desired. 

    NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

    Respond to requests on short notice, which may require working during extended hours, weekends and holidays. 

    Limited travel may be required
