    Position summary

    ROLE SUMMARY

    The ES New Product Integration Lead will implement strategies to bring new medicines to the world faster and integrate external manufacturers into the ES network from business development and other related transactions.  The role will focus on securing reliable contract manufacturing for new products, supporting due diligence and integrating new products and CMOs into the ES governance and ways of working.

    The NPI Lead will be required to interface with the existing PGS matrixed organization to support sourcing activities and enable on-boarding successes.  Engagement in Co-Development structure is required to foster product launch from the CMO’s

    • Implement the CMO strategy and operationalizing New Product/New Modality launch activities for the External Supply Operating Unit, when utilizing a global network of CMOs
    • Executing on Business Development ES related activities associated to due diligence, contractual negotiations and transactional/operational oversight of acquired new products/programs that utilizes CMOs
    • Interfacing with PharmSci External Supply to create enhanced interactions, drive a forum to collaborate on Pfizer network of global CMOs.
    • Interfacing with Co-Development teams and Global Launch teams, responsible for CMO on-boarding, coordination of commercial contracts, systems set-up and demand planning.  The colleague will leverage the VSOT model to ensure the successful transition of programs from Co-Development through Commercial readiness
    • Execute on Pfizer Site Divestitures with key Pfizer stakeholders, which includes engaging/negotiating in divestiture contractual negotiations and accountable for establishing the separation transition plan from Internal Plant site to CMO
    • Support and engage in New ES Technology platforms aligning with PGS Network strategy

    This role will require a dynamic and agile oversight model to support acceleration programs as well as ensure GMP compliance and mitigate commercial supply risk.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibility of the NPI Lead to implement strategies to commercialize these new modalities and ensure reliable supply from these external vendors

    • Partner with BTx Pharm Sc External Supply and R&D Procurement to develop understanding of current vendor landscape in involving new product space (e.g. Gene Therapy)
    • Develop “fit for purpose” supply strategies, including strategy to support “Current State” (commercialization options from current vendors) vs. “Future State” (identification of new strategic partnerships w/ vendors that Pfizer wants to develop to optimize supply chains in future)
    • Negotiation and management of necessary contracts/agreement for supply and services from external vendors, as well as technology licenses
    • Establish new vendors in Pfizer systems
    • Establish strategies for supply chain requirements (i.e. transport, storage, shipping qualification) – many technical challenges that will be unique to PGS in the commercial space
    • Engage with the PGS BD teams, due diligence activities at CMOs including risk assessment of a potential commercial supplier focusing on supply chain, operational, capacity, and resource risk assessment and mitigation strategy development

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
    • Minimum of 10 years in pharmaceuticals and external vendor/CMO management (depending on degree).
    • Experience in contract negotiation in BioPharm space

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s or PhD degree preferred

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Experience in large molecule technology, complex sterile injectables and combination products is preferred
    • Understanding of commercial manufacturing requirements and operations
    • Understanding of CMC and product development requirements.
    • Ability / skills to effectively lead and execute within a matrix organization is very important. 
    • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization, including senior internal and/or external personnel on matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
    • Excellent communication skills--written and verbal.
    • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, meeting deadlines, and working well under pressure.
    • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems which requires the use of ingenuity, innovation, and creativity.
    • Experience in project management – ensuring successful completion of major programs / projects as part of a team and/or project leadership role.
