    Position summary

    Closing Application Date : 1st December 2022

    Ringaskiddy API site in Cork plays a critically strategic role within Pfizer, it is the global site for new small molecule API products through scale up and launch, as well as manufacture of large volume patented and off-patent medicines.

    An opportunity has arisen for a Quality Control Planner/Scheduler to join our Quality Control leadership team on a 23-month fixed term contract.  Our QC department consists of 5 teams (Raw Materials, Intermediates, IPC, API and Stability) based across three laboratories in Ringaskiddy focused on batch release, AMTE and Validation activities to support the manufacture of key Pfizer medicines at the Ringaskiddy site.

    What You Will Achieve

    In your role you will support an efficient and compliant Quality Control function within the Ringaskiddy facility. This role is key to the QC department meeting its commitments through managing the schedule for the team. The role requires the building of excellent peer relationships within and outside of the QC department to ensure the optimum schedule is agreed with stakeholders. The role requires an excellent technical/functional/digital knowledge of appropriate systems and incorporates providing technical support as required for improved laboratory performance.

    How You Will Achieve It

    • Be a change agent within the QC department by facilitating and leading appropriate change projects.
    • Develop weekly and monthly schedules in collaboration with the laboratory team and site stakeholders.
    • Use digital visualization tools for scheduling.
    • Measure schedule adherence and analyse data for improvements.
    • Collaborate with the QC Capacity Planner and Digital Team on project enhancements.
    • Improve laboratory performance through the use of lean and six sigma tools.
    • Provide technical support to the QC Analysts within the Lab Centric Team. 
    • Support Continuous Improvement culture within the QC Team.
    • Support and maintain the IMEx programme to optimize efficiencies and cost effectiveness.
    • Maintain standards regarding to cGMP, safety and housekeeping in the laboratory.
    • Ensures all laboratory supplies (chemicals, hardware, glassware, and consumables) are purchased, safely stored, and stocks maintained at a level which supports all testing requirements.
    • Be cost focused and support budget within the area.
    • Support other activities within the QC Department as required.

    Knowledge and Experience

    • An appropriate third level qualification (Degree) in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry or related science discipline.
    • Demonstrated supervisory/scheduling experience in a relevant technical role preferably in a pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical/ healthcare laboratory.
    • Be a self-starter with the ability to work on your own initiative and within teams.
    • Excellent ability to deliver results, with strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
    • Demonstrated ability in the areas of 6 sigma, Lean and Continuous Improvement.
