    Position summary

    1. Overall Responsibilities

    In collaboration with others in VRD, DJ and GPD

    Create development strategies, plan and conduct vaccine clinical studies in Japan and provide quality clinical data in a timely manner. Where possible lead simultaneous new vaccine submissions and approvals in Japan compared to US and Europe. Work collaboratively and support other Vaccine Clinical Research programs in Asia-Pacific and Global as required.

    2. Major Duties and Responsibilities

    Build and maintain cooperative relations with the following stakeholders: VRD, DJ, Vaccine Business Unit in Japan, and other Pfizer departments as required. Develop and maintain high quality scientific interactions with regulatory authorities, external advisors and experts Ensure timeliness and quality of all tasks in the Department. Supervise/advise and lead staff to achieve individual and Department objectives. Prioritize tasks and allocate staff appropriately. Manage and execute the budget. Plan/execute education/training plan for staff. Continue to optimize the standard work processes. Find out common issues in Vaccine Research Dept. and make/execute best countermeasures. Support directly and/or indirectly Vaccine Clinical programs elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region as required.

    3. Skill Requirements:

    Extensive experience in line management and talent development Medical qualifications, PhD (or equivalent) Extensive management and technical expertise from companies involved in pharmaceutical and/or vaccine development is preferred. Thorough understanding and knowledge of related guidelines such as GCP, GMP and GLP, notifications from regulatory authorities, and SOPs. Strong presentation skills in Japanese and English. Excellent communication/interpersonal skill. Proficiency in English (speaking/reading/writing).
