    Position summary

    ROLE SUMMARY

    The Senior Manager, Data Services will be on a team responsible for executing the technical strategies, architecture, system designs and solutions development to enable the Digital Manufacturing organization business processes as it relates to the PGS Production System and some of the major COVID-19 Vaccine Production initiatives. 

    The colleague will be accountable for leading data services activities within the team to enable advanced, innovative, and scalable database services and data platforms for data engineering, AI, analytics, business intelligence & insights.

    This person will be working in a DevOps team that build microservices using cloud infrastructure, open source technology, containerization & orchestration, and CI/CD pipeline for software delivery automation.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Senior Manager, Data Services responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Lead a team of high performing software engineers across multiple product lines delivering data driven solutions using modern cloud architecture and DevOps techniques.
    • Be responsible for executing the technical and architecture strategies and roadmaps across Digital Production Systems.
    • Be accountable for implementing architectures, strategies, design, and delivery using Scrum agile development methodology.
    • Ensure quality software is delivered on time within a fast-paced agile environment.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvements across the development environment.
    • Monitor sprint progress, eliminate barriers, and ensure effectively deliver the solutions to add values to our business customers.
    • Understand business customers’ expectations and preferences including alignment with Digital landscape
    • Support day-to-day operational needs and lead issue investigation and resolution.
    • Act as a thought leader on emerging digital technologies
    • Develop and implement process improvements, enforcement of adherence to standards across the organization and compliance with industry regulations.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders across Pfizer Global Supply, Digital and Strategic Partners

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in developing and deploying enterprise solution
    • 3+ years working with agile software delivery model.
    • Working experience in engineering and technical delivery of the cloud-based solutions created in modern programming languages/frameworks; Java, Python, D3
    • Working experience with relational, NoSQL and analytic database systems: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Couchbase, Redshift, Snowflake
    • Has owned systems and managed development of end-to-end applications.
    • Has experience with production deployments of complex systems.
    • Experience with an industry-accepted, structured software development life cycle methodology.
    • Experience supporting the development of complex software products including the deployment of multiple versions / releases of a large product.
    • Ability to contribute to technical specifications, technical design documentation, process documentation and technical SOPs for the software development team.
    • Experience working in teams to address software defect analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution.
    • Excellent communication skills

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Pharmaceutical Experience
    • Experience delivering solutions with the following attributes:
      • Microservices
      • Containers, Docker
      • CI/CD, code repositories
      • DevOps tools Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker
      • Kafka, Spark, Impala, Presto

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

    Ability to manage many parallel objectives and changing priorities.

    NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

    • Job will require working with global teams and applications. Flexible working schedule will be needed on occasion to accommodate planned agile sprint planning and system releases as well as unplanned/on-call level 3 support.
