    Position summary

    The Sr Director, DSRD Strategic Initiatives will be a member of the Strategic Business Operations (SBO) Group, dedicated to implementing large and small scale strategies to achieve excellence across DSRD. This colleague will be responsible for providing the technical, organizational and program leadership required for the development and implementation of global training and the strategic planning, metrics and education development for the Pfizer Safety and Advisory Councils (SAC) and their sub teams. 

    The role of the Strategic Initiatives Group (SIG) Lead is to :

    • Drive effective and proactive (non-product) program support to deliver DSRD dynamic portfolio of strategic initiatives.
    • Deliver initiatives that identify, design and implement creative business and process solutions.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders in the RUs, BUs, DSRD and other partner lines to ensure alignment around the DSRD end-to-end safety collaborations. 
    • In conjunction with the Executive Team (ET), this role supports the prioritization, resource/budget management, and forecasting of non-drug projects. 

    Provides strong program leadership required for: 

    • The development and implementation of global training and education projects in support of DSRD and CMs, regulatory standards, and quality.  
    • Provide project management support for DSRD-wide strategic initiatives, Enterprise or external-facing business initiatives as needed. 
    • External outreach around safety collaborations

    Role Responsibilities

    Perform all regulatory responsibilities in compliance with applicable regulatory standards as well as oversee the following key sets of responsibilities: 

    Strategic Initiative

    • Lead and sponsor  global teams to provide strategy and leadership in planning, development and optimal delivery of organizational development activities and business and strategic initiatives. 

    • Provide consultative services (business solutions), program management, project execution and delivery (e.g. project schedule, resources, budget, issues, and risks etc), change management, communication, and operations strategy 

    • Support DSRD leadership to seek opportunities to find new and innovative ways to transform the DSRD business with focus on cost, speed, and quality 

    • Drive prioritization process to review all identified business initiatives, understanding of dependencies, and ensure adequate support if required (internal or management of external resources depending on initiative) 

    • Develop and maintain standardized processes for data collection and reporting out on strategic initiative portfolio that meet the needs of the business 

    • Build DSRD foundations for change management; leverage advanced methodologies and systematic approaches to engage colleagues as agents of change 

    • Provide portfolio cost savings and return on investment calculations in partnership with finance 

    • Exhibits a high level of business knowledge and understanding of the external marketplace and anticipates DSRD and customer requirements 

    • Interpret strategy to establish priorities, contribute to the development and execution of long term strategies 

    • Leads facilitation of core leadership and management development programs, global business face to face meetings, synchronous/asynchronous e-learning, and soft-skill courses 

    • Member of SBO leadership team 

    Education and Performance Enhancement 

    • As the educational program lead for projects, works with stakeholders to establish support levels, strategy, and operational educational programs for departmental and enterprise level training initiatives 

    • Leads research, design and implementation of new best in class learning initiatives, and enhancements to existing global learning programs. Manage deliverables according to endorsed plans, budget, and timelines across multi-functional teams 

    • Manage development of courseware strategy including course design, development, and deployment 

    • Partner with associated business line and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to proactively identify training needs and development and deployment of global training programs 

    • Develop processes, as needed, and monitor activities related to compliance oversight of training programs 

    • Ensure programs and projects are evaluated for effectiveness and customer satisfaction and that feedback is shared and utilized as part of the continuous improvement process 

    End-to-End Safety Collaborations 

    • Development of metrics and performance measures, reporting and analysis to meet business needs, and regulatory requirements 

    • Partner with associated business line and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to proactively identify current Council needs. 

    • Drive strong relations with GPD Regulatory Intelligence and Regulatory Affairs groups to enhance knowledge of DSRD and ensure effective monitoring of the nonclinical safety issues 

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Budget management; develop and manage budget for SIG projects.  Drive budget leverage in the SIG space 

    • Liaise and promote positive working relationship with key representatives from DSRD functional lines and other DSRD customer business lines, as appropriate 

    • Lead the development of an engaged and high performing workforce in DSRD through focus on culture, talent development and business excellence 

    • Accountable for managing critical business operations and strategic planning at a senior level maintaining consistency across DSRD to meet portfolio and strategic priorities 

    • Collaborative working relationships and close alignment with other Pfizer business lines as appropriate

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree or Masters degree with 15 years relevant experience, advanced degree preferred. 
    • MBA/OD or equivalent training and/or business experiences preferred.
    • Certification in learning highly desirable. 

    Experience: 

    • 10 years senior leadership experience.
    • Strong organizational, critical thinking and communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a global, matrixed multi-disciplinary environment.
    • Strong understanding and demonstrated application of GLPs. 
    • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles, organizational development, and instructional design.
    • Experience working globally with organizations/teams/individuals.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with audiences in various organizational roles and levels.
    • Experience leading and managing a global multi-functional matrix team and ability to work in areas of high ambiguity.
    • Knowledge of current learning technologies, assessment and survey platforms. 

    Certifications:

    • Certified in Implementation Methodology and experienced leading change implementation
    • Project management: proven skills in planning and prosecuting complex business tactics in support of a global/pan enterprise business function. PMP certification a plus.  
    • Training in leadership skills, supervisory skills and project management skills
    • Experience in education design and development. 
    • Certified Professional in learning and performance or equivalent a plus.
