    Position summary

    ROLE SUMMARY

    The Enterprise Platforms & Security (EP&S) team delivers the following capabilities for Pfizer. Business application platforms supporting Pfizer’s enterprise application and critical business processes.Infrastructure allowing business traffic to travel where it needs to go, internally and externally, along with the appropriate access controls.EP&S secures Pfizer's most important information assets through world class controls and protections and enables Pfizer's business results by making security an enabler and not a roadblock to achieving business results.

    The Developer Products and Platforms (DPP) function within EP&S owns and operates platforms that help EP&S and its customers build,deploy,and run leading-edge products on-premisesand in the cloud. DPP platforms are used to build products for EP&S and Digital customers with scalability, reliability, and security built in.

    As a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering, you will lead a team of software engineers building several strategic products and platforms in EP&S.

    You have the technical expertise to be hands-on while providing technical leadership and managing a team of talented engineers. You will contribute to product and platform strategy and help teams deliver reliable, secure, and user-friendly products to customers. You will work with Product Managers to define the product technical roadmap and staff products with engineers from your team.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coach, mentor, and lead a team of software engineers

    • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices are met (e.g., style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).

    • Work closely with the Product Management team to ensure we're building the best products.

    • Partner with product teams to align the engineering team to products.

    • Continuously improve software engineering practices

    • Design and develop platforms, tools, and processes to improve the performance, quality, stability, and product health.

    • Provide technical expertise throughout the product life cycle, including design, implementation, and delivery of scalable services and infrastructure.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

    • 7+ years of software development experience

    • 5+ years of experience managing a team of engineers

    • Experience in the field of computer science, data structures, algorithms, and software design.

    • Cloud-specific experience with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform

    • Experience in languages such as Java, or C/C++, or C#, or Python, or JavaScript, or Go.

    • Experience in any of the following: Unix/Linux environments, cloud platforms, distributed/parallel systems, machine learning, networking, systems/security software development.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Familiarity and/or previous experience with Agile (e.g., Scrum) is desired.

    NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

    • Respond to requests on short notice, which may require working during extended hours, weekends and holidays.

    • Limited travel may be required.

    RESOURCES MANAGED

    This role will have 8+ direct reports and manage the work activities of contingent workers.
