    Position summary

    About the team:

At Pfizer we make medicines and vaccines that change patients' lives with a global reach of over 780 million patients.

The Pfizer Digital Customer and Commercial Creation Center (C4) team creates technology solutions for our external customers.  This includes all digital (web, mobile, messaging, etc) products, platforms, services and experiences for our multiple customer types.

The Newton Platform team sits in a part of C4 that focuses on platforms and enabling other teams. We are responsible for building automation and self-service tooling that facilitates efficient delivery of mobile apps. We’re composed of multiple self-directed and diverse teams which are distributed around the world.

As a team we understand that building the right solution can be difficult. Therefore, we organize ourselves around goals, and value shipping early and iterating to achieve them. We are not afraid to change direction if our goals are not being met. Our DevOps culture and way of working is fundamental to how we learn and support each other while delivering solutions to our internal users.

    Role Summary:

We are seeking a mobile-experienced product owner to join our mobile platform team. This platform supports hundreds of existing iOS and Android apps and is core to Pfizer Digital’s ability to develop new apps and maintain those that exist at global scale. We work with teams building both natively developed apps and, increasingly, apps developed using hybrid technology (Ionic) or built as PWAs.

You will work to deliver developer tooling and our core CI/Quality service that provides the fundamental CI services, checks, balances, at the core of our platform. Your products and services help our mobile app development teams do their jobs quickly and efficiently, with instant feedback on the quality of their work.

We need you to harness your knowledge of internal customer facing platform products and the wider mobile landscape to help us as we enhance and support our mobile application development platform.

    Key Responsibilities:

A normal work week consists of a mix of meetings, managing your services, showcasing your work, and planning. We have multiple calls per week for the team to sync and we do our best to create focus time without meetings. On a regular basis you’ll also have personal 1-1 meetings with your Line Manager to support your own growth in the team.

As the team is diverse and distributed, asynchronous collaboration within the team is key. You’ll be supported by a Service Executive with planning and prioritization.

The team take pride in the quality of our delivery practices, breadth of our automated test coverage and the documentation we write.

You’re successful with your responsibilities if you engage and deliver services with the team in a way that is stable and sustainable. We value predictability and avoid unreasonable deadlines that cause us to rush or cut corners.

You will lead a team of CI/DevOps engineers, testers, scrum master(s), technical writer(s) to:

    • Define and deliver the CI product roadmap in line with business objectives and wider platform needs. You will work with the Mobile Platform Product Manager to evaluate change to Pfizer’s mobile capability needs based on industry trends; engaging with stakeholders to establish roadmaps meeting current and future needs.

    • Constantly iterate and incrementally improve our products, processes and services

    • Understand new requirements and new technologies and help guide the problem solving and refinement/planning for what your teams need to implement

    • Work with others to foster a high performing and caring culture based on DevOps metrics and feedback loops

    How You Will Achieve It

    • Embrace a DevOps mentality and ensure the model's success, building a culture of shared responsibility and transparency leading to higher quality and quicker delivery of output.

    • Leverage industry best practice and experience to ensure that quality and security is embedded into operating practices.

    • Understand our mobile platform and its place in our organisation. Lead the team to ensure they can decompose functional and technical requirements to tackle complex challenges.
