    Prudential International Insurance (PII) continues to be one of Prudential's fastest growing and most profitable business groups. PII has operations in eleven countries around the world (Japan, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, China, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Kenya and Ghana).  PII is looking to fill a new Associate Actuary position in the Actuarial department in Newark, New Jersey.

    The Associate Actuary position will assist USGAAP LDTI modeling and Prophet implementation initiatives. This may include supporting the end-to-end implementation of USGAAP LDTI reporting process, various Prophet modeling projects for local operations, and USGAAP LDTI implementation workstreams for example LDTI restatement activities, roll-forward attributions and financial forecasting. This position will report to a manager on the Global Initiatives and Reinsurance Financial Reporting team.

    The Global Initiatives and Reinsurance Financial Reporting team leads an overall Global IFRS – USGAAP LDTI implementation program for PII ex-Japan, Prophet based global actuarial modeling, Enterprise RAC, LST and Model Risk.

    Primary responsibilities include

    • Assist, build up, and manage Prophet modeling initiatives for international operations with local specific product features and regulatory needs in each jurisdiction.
    • Work independently on Prophet model development, validation, and documentation of liability cash flow generation for IFRS 17 (International Financial Reporting Standard), USGAAP LDTI (Long Duration Targeted Improvements) and other frameworks for various PII jurisdictions.
    • Design and build out an end-to-end LDTI/IFRS 17 reporting process using vendor solutions SAS, Prophet, and other internal tools where the actuarial and financial reporting workflows are re-engineered to fit the future reporting and system needs.
    • Assist to produce, analyze and validate the results of USGAAP LDTI impact study and roll-forward calculation
    • Work closely with other functional teams, in particular technology and local operations, to ensure a repeatable, scalable, and efficient reporting infrastructure to meet the future business needs under the new regulations.
    • Act as subject matter expert within PII for Prophet modeling and emerging new regulation regimes such as LDTI, IFRS 17, IAIS ICS, among others.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Actuarial Science, mathematics, finance, computer science or other quantitative related fields are preferred
    • 3-5 years of actuarial experiences
    • ASA credentials preferred
    • Experience in open-coding actuarial systems such as Prophet or ALFA
    • Strong quantitative and analytics skills, including the ability to understand concepts and assess situations in a timely manner
    • Self-motivated individual
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
    • Strong Microsoft Excel/Word/Access/PowerPoint skills
    • Programming experience in VBA / SQL language is preferred
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables
    • Experience in maintaining a controlled and collaborative environment and protecting sensitive information
    • Open to remote/virtual location outside of commutable Newark, NJ location.

    We support the SOA actuarial exam progression with paid time off to study and exam costs.

    Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $108,000.00 to $160,700.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
