    Description

    Prudential Retirement Strategies (PRS) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Actuary to modernize and maintain the financial projection models used by the PRS actuarial pricing team. The models are used for pricing institutional products (including Pension Risk Transfer, Longevity Risk Transfer, Stable Value, and Structured Settlements) and are used for pricing transactions of sizes ranging from $1 million to $35 billion.

    Key responsibilities

    • Provide live pricing support for model questions and technology challenges
    • Collaborate with pricing and methodology teams to implement modeling requests in Excel/VBA, Python, and MATLAB
    • Convert legacy models and tools from platforms such as Excel/VBA into Python
    • Maintain SQL server instances with the assistance of a professional DBA
    • Create user interfaces in Dash
    • Maintain strong model documentation and follow coding and testing best practices

    Qualifications

    Required

    • 4+ years of actuarial experience or equivalent experience in a similar quantitative financial field
    • Solid programming skills (e.g. VBA, Python, or other programming languages) and understanding of object-oriented architecture
    • Knowledge of institutional products and markets
    • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to a nontechnical audience
    • Willingness to continuously learn, upskill, and share best practices with the rest of the team

    Preferred

    • Python or MATLAB development experience
    • Experience with retirement modeling or pricing
    • Experience developing financial services applications
    • Front-end web development experience, experience with Dash is most desirable
    • NoSQL database experience (Cassandra or similar)
    • Knowledge of agile methodologies
    • ASA preferred

    Open to remote/virtual location outside of commutable Newark, NJ location

    Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $111,400.00 to $165,800.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
