    Director, Actuary

    DUTIES:          

    Lead the Investment Only Stable Value Pricing Team. Perform pricing and reserving analysis for Investment Only Stable Value products. Calculate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”) liabilities quarterly for in-force contracts under FAS 157, SOP 03-1, and FASB Targeted Improvements. Price new cases and re-price existing cases. Review case-level underwriting recommendations and assess reasonability in consideration of participant choice, plan history, and demographics to provide accurate risk assessments on in-force contracts and new opportunities. Model testing and documentation. Support new product development, including building models, review of capital frameworks, and development of assumptions. Statistical analysis. Report profitability of new business and existing business. Support Statutory reserve calculations for inforce contracts. Monitor concentration risk limits. Support updates to underwriting guidelines. Assess risk on investment strategy/guidelines and contractual features for new and existing contracts to optimize risk/return tradeoff. Implement and maintain proper model controls. Support the design, testing and documentation of pricing and valuation model enhancements. Lead, mentor and evaluate talent. The Director, Actuary supervises two (2) subordinate employees, specifically, one (1) associate actuary, and one (1) actuarial associate.

    REQTS:           

    Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or related quantitative field, plus four (4) years of experience in the position offered, Associate Actuary, or related occupation. Must have at least four (4) years of experience with: Actuarial concepts and calculations on a daily basis, such as probability & statistics, interest theory, option pricing, actuarial model selection and building, model coding, model testing, stochastic financial projections, life contingencies, product pricing and reserving; Issuing Statements of Actuarial Opinion (‘SAO”), which encompasses nearly all of the communications a credentialed actuary makes on a daily basis; Financial markets and asset valuation concepts, such as duration and convexity, fixed income, equity, and derivative valuation, financial reporting for insurance & derivatives, corporate finance, and portfolio management; Underwriting experience for both mortality and policyholder behavior; and Utilize Excel and VBA, to perform the quantitative analysis. Must have at least one (1) year of experience with: FASB Targeted Improvements; and Product design innovation relating to market guarantee products. Must have the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (“FSA”), and the Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”). EOE.
