    The Corporate functions Operational Risk Management team supports the priorities of Prudential’s Corporate Functions by helping ensure that informed business decisions are made related to risks in proposed and existing processes. 

    Joining the Corporate Functions Risk Management team provides a tremendous opportunity to interact with senior management, Audit, Law and Compliance and other Risk Management teams. 

    This position is responsible for providing in developing and maintaining an effective and efficient risk management program in accordance with the company's Operational Risk Management framework. This position requires resourcefulness, good judgment, persistence, the ability to influence others and strong leadership qualities.

    Core Responsibilities:   

    Provides guidance and assistance to Actuarial Corporate functions as well as Business Units Actuarial functions and ERM in managing operational risks in accordance with the Company’s ORM framework. Viewed as trusted advisor regarding risk issues by business partners. This includes ensuring that operational risks are properly identified, assessed, monitored, controlled and reported. For example: 

    • Promotes and builds strong risk management culture in business groups/corporate functions through strong engagement and relationship building with senior management

    • Responsibilities include resolving challenging, sensitive, and/or urgent risk issues

    • Providing Operational Risk support and advice to business partners, including facilitating assessments of strategic initiatives and ensuring appropriate controls are implemented

    • Applies sound judgment in the evaluation of risks and controls. Effectively challenges adequacy of controls.

    • Advises business groups/corporate functions on the development and implementation of action plans to address control gaps

    • Proactively partners with Risk Management counterparts to identify risk management processes with enterprise-wide implications and effective methods to evaluate control effectiveness

    • Assists senior leaders with preparation of materials for Operational Risk Committees

    • Serving as a liaison between the Actuarial Corporate functions as well as Business Units Actuarial functions to provide support, effective challenges, work with Internal Audit for engagements and AMC team to track resulting issues and action plans until effective closure 

    Qualifications:

    • Superior relationship management skills with the ability to partner and build professional relationships in a cross-functional environment

    • Works independently and delivers high quality outputs

    • Proactive, driven professional with the ability to operate effectively from the conceptual stage through to successful implementation

    • Clear and effective writing skills

    • Risk management, audit experience or similar business control experience

    • Familiarity with and understanding of financial risks, including credit, market, and insurance risk is a plus

    • Uses strong influencing skills to achieve objectives

    • Excellent listening and communication skills

    • Applies sound judgment in determining when to escalate risk issues

    • Adaptability and flexibility to work effectively with a diverse portfolio of people, processes, and functions

    • Business and financial literacy

    • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, etc.) are a plus

    Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $144,500.00 to $195,500.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
