    Sustainability at Prudential:

Prudential is a purpose-led business with a history of pioneering action on sustainability topics that reflect our accountability to shareholders, employees, customers, and society.  We are proud to be consistently ranked by Fortune Magazine as one of the World’s Most Admired Companies and by Ethisphere Institute® as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for eight consecutive years. We have published comprehensive ESG reports since 2012 and continue to invest in the people, systems, and processes to deliver transparency and action on sustainability. In recognition of the rising importance of sustainability issues to our stakeholders, Prudential is undertaking further investments in our sustainability practices in the U.S. and globally.  In 2022, Prudential launched a centralized and expanded Sustainability Office within External Affairs to coordinate and implement an integrated, enterprise-wide strategy that will elevate the company’s ESG focus.

    The Opportunity

Prudential’s Sustainability Office is seeking an experienced corporate sustainability reporting professional to make a lasting impact by elevating the company’s ESG reporting to support strategic decision-making and global stakeholder engagement.  The Director, Sustainability Reporting will lead and refresh our sustainability reporting strategy, the production of sustainability reports and disclosures, the alignment of disclosures across our global operations, and the enhancement of ESG data collection processes and controls. The Sustainability Office will look to the Director to monitor and respond to disclosure best practices, emerging regulatory reporting requirements, and sustainability reporting trends across our peer landscape.  Current disclosures that this role will manage end-to-end include Prudential’s annual Sustainability report, CDP Climate Change Survey response, TCFD report, and participation in RFPs and surveys. This important role requires ongoing engagement with subject-matter experts across all sustainability topics as well as with senior leaders who oversee enterprise disclosures. The Director, Sustainability Reporting will partner with leaders across Finance, Risk Management, Global Technology, Procurement, and Facilities and other functions to re-imagine the technology systems and processes that support our sustainability disclosure suite.

This role is ideal for individuals with expertise in corporate sustainability reporting with a track record of producing accurate and compelling sustainability disclosures that blend data and storytelling.  Success in the role will require deep knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks and protocols, detail-orientation, business acumen, analytical skill, judgement, creative problem-solving, and excellent project management. This role sits within the External Affairs function reporting to the VP and Head of Sustainability.

    What you’ll lead

    • Disclosure strategy: In partnership with internal stakeholders, develop and secure approval for a refreshed sustainability disclosure roadmap that balances the risks and opportunities of sustainability disclosures and adapts to shifting stakeholder expectations over time.

    • Sustainability reporting: Set the approach and lead the execution of all sustainability reporting initiatives and reports, creating project plans and timelines, managing dependencies, tracking interim milestones, and serving as the point person for contributions by 30+ subject-matter experts.  Lead periodic updates to our materiality assessment and stakeholder engagement map. Support regulatory reporting and disclosures.

    • Framework application. Support the application of the GHG protocol and other frameworks and participate in goal setting and progress tracking.

    • Controls and processes: Implement data collection standards, operating procedures, and controls to ensure all ESG data is consistent, reproducible, appropriately verified, and documented.

    • Landscape monitoring: Track sustainability reporting developments, guidelines, reporting norms, regulatory developments, industry expectations and the competitive disclosure landscape in the U.S. and globally. Make recommendations on enhanced disclosures over time.

    • Enterprise coordination: Work with Prudential’s ESG leads in international insurance markets   including Japan, Brazil, and others as well as and in our asset management businesses (PGIM) to coordinate reporting efforts.

    • Continuous improvement: Seek and incorporate internal and external feedback on Prudential’s sustainability disclosures and recommend efficiencies for data and story collection, including developing business requirements, selecting, and implementing data management and reporting solutions.

    What’ll you bring:

    • 8+ years of progressive professional experience leading and executing corporate ESG reporting and disclosure initiatives, preferably in the financial services industry.

    • Mastery of Sustainability concepts, reporting frameworks and standards, disclosure trends, and ESG data collection and reporting software solutions.

    • Demonstrated success in creating corporate sustainability reports, CDP survey responses, TCFD reports, sustainability components of RFP responses, and other ESG disclosures.

    • Knowledge of emerging regulatory global reporting requirements.

    • Experience partnering with key functions such as finance, enterprise risk management, compliance, facilities, procurement, HR, global technology and others.

    • Ability to spot oncoming issues and connect dots, grasping the short- and long-term implications of decisions across a breadth of stakeholders.

    • A collaborative work style, the ability to build internal networks across a variety of businesses and corporate functions, and skill in achieving results through influence.

    • Judgment in navigating ambiguity and changing circumstances, knowing when to act independently and when to escalate topics with a willingness to contribute on both a strategic and tactical level.

    • Resourcefulness, attention to detail, and a solutions-oriented mindset with the organizational skills to simultaneously advance many complex projects to completion, especially when progress depends on colleagues of various levels of seniority and meeting documentation standards.

    • Strong skills in Microsoft Suite: Word, Teams, SharePoint file-sharing, PowerPoint, Excel.
