    Prudential is on a journey to transform its technology landscape from older, custom built applications to newer, cutting edge software.  As a Director, Tech Lead on the team, you will provide technical leadership and guidance to a Scrum team.  You play a key role in design through implementation, using innovation to drive new solutions and strong Technology skills to deliver business functionality with Quality.  The Tech Lead will be expected to showcase a continuously learning mentality, adopt modern techniques, and apply their experience to assist with the transformation creating positive outcomes.  If you enjoy the challenge of working in a fast paced, dynamic environment and have a passion for software engineering and technical leadership, this is the role for you.   

    Responsibilities: 

    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a Scrum team to drive the team’s deliverables while adhering to architectural guidance and best practices. 

    • Collaborates with Solution Architect Engineer to define and drive alignment on Technology strategy

    • Collaborate with global technology partners, product owners, other Tech Leads, and team members to drive outcomes 

    • Provide administrative management of technology resources on the team

    • Coordinate vendor relationships for software products used by teams including contracts, statement of work, technical designs, and representation at internal vendor software/solution reviews

    • Develop APIs, services, and file feed components using modern stack technologies  both on-prem and in cloud

    • Work on an agile team understanding business needs, performing analysis, and transforming them into testable components

    • Conduct design reviews and code reviews on team members deliverables

    • Champion an Agile environment

    • Employ industry best practices to deliver world-class solutions. Ensure developed solutions remain compliant with all applicable Prudential standards

    • Drive software development activities to meet schedules and timelines

    • Drive code quality through development of automated tests

    • Research problems with a strong sense of ownership and develop solutions to address the problems

    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and how they can be applied to Prudential

    • Demonstrating experience with taking intelligent risks using a MVP mindset

    • Committed to a spirit of authentic partnership – to colleagues both internal and external to the organization

    • Conduct component testing and integration testing

    • Ensure that software standards, non-functional requirements and quality targets are met

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields

    • Experience with agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development (TDD)

    • Excellent problem-solving techniques

    • Proven leadership and staff management experience

    • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance 

    • Clear, professional communications (listening, oral and written communications) 

    • Strong relationship building and collaboration skills

    • Demonstrated track record as a team player

    • Experience working on agile Scrum teams

    A successful candidate will possess 8+ years of experience with the following:

    • Experience in distributed systems, object oriented programming, design patterns and design methodology

    • Must have experience with service implementation using service-oriented architecture (SOA) patterns, experience with developing true cloud based microservices highly desirable

    • Experience with Web service technologies such as REST, JSON, SOAP, XML, JDBC, MySQL

    • Experience in JAVA/J2EE services using Spring Boot, Spring CLI, Node.JS, Maven, Microservice, multi-threading, Concurrency, and parallel processing

    • Experience in Product or Business configuration on the FAST platform or other configuration based software desired but not required

    • Experience with relational databases

    • Experience leading a team thru development lifecycle phases

    • Working knowledge of branching techniques and usage of Github, Bitbucket or Subversion required.

    • Working knowledge of AWS, ECS, EC2 instances, and AWS Services such as Cloudwatch, CodeDeploy.

    • Exposure to monitoring and logging techniques

    • Working knowledge of NoSQL databases and BPM tools is desired but not required.

    • Understanding of Life or Annuities insurance products a plus

    Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $163,600.00 to $221,400.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
