Business Overview:
The Chief Investment Office manages $516 billion in assets and is responsible for asset/liability management, risk management, oversight and reporting on product investment margin and related capital markets hedging activities. CIO is primarily focused on the construction of well-diversified investment portfolios to protect the Company’s invested capital and pricing margins. These portfolios consist of cash market securities and derivative instruments, the latter of which are used to hedge the insurance liabilities underwritten by the Company.
The individual will be part of Global Hedge Management (GHM) within the Chief Investment Office. GHM oversees multiple hedge initiatives, including the Variable Annuities and FlexGuard Hedge Programs. GHM manages the firm’s derivative and foreign exchange needs and is a center of excellence for Prudential’s hedging efforts.
The candidate will become part of a team that executes daily in capital markets. GHM regularly
consults with various internal business partners and customers. Specific expectations of this individual
include, but are not limited to:
Gaining knowledge of capital markets and trading acumen in multiple asset classes
Assisting in the management of specific hedge programs
Developing and implementing technological advances for the Trade Desk
Monitoring capital markets and emerging hedge program risks. Proposing trade ideas based on program needs and market/relative-value analysis
Collaborating with business partners to assist in product design and creation
Qualifications:
This is a Hybrid role and the candidate must be able to work 1-2 days in the Newark, NJ office
3-5 years of investment related experience is required
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, advanced Excel/Tableau/Power BI acumen strongly desired
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in the fields of Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Actuarial or similar
Progress towards graduate degree, CFA, FSA or similar is preferred
Programming skills, particularly in Python, VBA, and SQL, helpful, but not required
Background in the area(s) of Trading, Risk Management, Finance, Capital Management, Investment Management, Credit or Actuarial beneficial but not required
Creative problem-solving skills along with outstanding verbal and written communication and collaboration skills

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $105,000 to $135,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
