    As part of the Corporate Controllers Department and the CFO Organization of PFI, the Finance Shared Services (FSS) organization is responsible for the controllership activities in support of the U.S. business units.

    The Financial Accounting & Analysis (FSS A&A) team supports monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP and Statutory close processes, including journal processing, reconciliations, analysis of balance sheet and income statement drivers and Reinsurance. The team partners closely with the COE areas as well as Actuarial/Reinsurance and other corporate areas.

    This individual will have oversight responsibilities mainly associated with the execution of the various Reinsurance treaties. At this level the individual will typically have some understanding of the firm’s different businesses and related economics as well as some industry experience and/or subject area expertise in one or more specific skill sets, business areas, or products.

    The responsibilities of this position will include:

    • Ensure timely and accurate completion of general ledger close responsibilities, which can include review and approval of journal entries and reconciliations of staff and offshore partners
    • Partner with other areas to facilitate reinsurance settlements
    • Collaborate and participate in the determination/execution of new reinsurance treaties
    • Prepare specific balance sheet and income statement driver analyses and reconciliations (i.e. Actuarial drivers, GAAP trending and variances, etc.) with focus on the reinsurance accounting/relationships
    • Seek out and/or develop efficiencies and improve effectiveness by instituting best practices in processes
    • Support quarterly/annual audits by Internal Audit, as well as, independent external auditors
    • Coach and develop team members as applicable
    • Ensure adequacy of internal controls over financial reporting and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and Model Audit Rule requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA a plus)
    • 5 - 7 years of financial reporting and analysis experience
    • Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles
    • Insurance and/or Reinsurance experience
    • Insurance Product knowledge within Individual Life, Group Life, Annuities and Retirement a plus.
    • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities under challenging time frames
    • Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
    • Strong collaborative and partnering skills
    • Highly motivated, proactive, detail oriented
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
    • Experience with Prudential Financial systems a plus (Oracle, Oracle BI, Essbase/Smartview, & other financial statement applications)
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work overtime during peak periods

    Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $108,000.00 to $160,700.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
