Available immediately is a highly visible and impactful Vice President (VP) of Data Engineering & Analytics for one of the world's largest asset management firms. This is a senior, strategic, leadership position in TSG, accountable for leading and driving forward the data engineering, database, data modeling and business intelligence / data analytics functions. The position leads a team of data engineers, database developers and business intelligence developers.
This position reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and is a senior role accountable for defining and delivering the data strategy with technology. It will establish and drive the direction for the acquisition, ingestion, storage, distribution, and analytics of all data across the firm. The position will partner closely with the Chief Data Officer (CDO) on data governance, ensuring the appropriate usage of data across the business and supporting data delivery and quality throughout the business.
A key focus over the next two years for TSG will be the migration of our platforms to AWS. We have an exciting agenda to shift away from on-premises platforms and leverage the increased scalability, performance, resiliency, and the centralization of data services that moving to the cloud will provide.
The right candidate will have sound real-world experience in migrating complex financial services data and application workloads from on-premises infrastructure to cloud-based services.
Foundational to our cloud journey, we are undergoing a significant transformation of our data architecture from batch-based to real-time event-driven data delivery for all data sets, including market, reference, and alternate data. To support this, a deep technical background in delivering and experience leading teams with contemporary software development and data engineering practices is essential, especially in Python, Java, Scala, Apache Spark, and Parquet, alongside ETL data platforms including Pentaho and Information. Experience with event-driven and streaming data architectures including tools such as Kafka, Kinesis, AWS Lambda, SQS and SNS is highly desirable.
Strong familiarity with relational and analytical data warehouses and databases will be key in this role, including experience with SQL and deploying and supporting on-premises environments including Sybase ASE and Microsoft SQL Server and cloud-based platforms including AWS Aurora, AWS Redshift and Snowflake. Experience with distributed processing of large data sets on Apache Hadoop will also be desirable.
Over the last two years, we have successfully established a business intelligence (BI) center of excellence. This role will lead the BI team and partner closely with our investment, client, and business support businesses to provide the right tools and approaches to mine and make the most of the sizeable datasets we manage. The right candidate with be well versed in Tableau, Power BI and Alteryx used to wrangle, analyze, and visualize data is essential.
This role will also oversee the strategy, architecture, design and implementation of a revised data model and API-based data delivery platform in conjunction with our data governance team, business units and information owners. Experience with data modeling with financial services data sets will be well regarded.

Qualifications
The salary range for this role is from $211,000 to $285,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits.
Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement
