Job Summary

This position is within the Protection and Controls (P&C) Design group which is part of the Projects and Construction organization. This position requires working knowledge of electrical utility and substation engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience and/or education. This position requires a working knowledge of protection and controls, strong CADD (drafting) skills, and strong organizational skills.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a log for field mark prints (FMPs) for the civil, electrical/layout, and protection & controls groups
• Request and review proposals from A&E Companies to incorporate outstanding FMPs (Backlog)
• Initiate purchase requisitions for A&E Companies to incorporate outstanding FMPs (backlog)
• Initiate work authorizations for A&E Companies with existing purchase order(s) to incorporate outstanding FMPs
• Distribute FMP packages for incorporation to engineer of record (A&E company or internal engineering group)
• Incorporate FMPs for the protection and controls group
• Communicate with field personnel to clarify FMP discrepancies
• Track FMP submittals from the moment they are received from the construction group to the moment they are approved in McLaren document management system (DMS) by the project engineer
• Review record drawings (against submitted FMPs) and provide feedback to engineer of record (A&E company or internal engineering group)
• Review and initiate the approval process for invoices submitted by A&E Companies

Job Specific Qualifications

REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
• Two (2) years or more of electrical utility experience and knowledge of electrical substations and switching stations equipment.
• Must possess working knowledge of protective relay schemes and applications, SCADA, metering, A.C & D.C power and controls, alarms, fiber optic communication and equipment monitoring systems.
• Computer skills: MicroStation (Bentley) CADD, MS Office (Word, Excel), Acrobat, etc.
• Working knowledge of one line controls, schematics for protective relays including microprocessor relays, control schematics, alarms, auxiliary power, SCADA, and metering circuits, etc. and understanding of electrical layout drawings to effectively support projects.
• Clear and concise writing and verbal communications skills.
• Experience reviewing design work completed by others.
• Shall work with minimum of supervision and be a good team player.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.

• Must follow all safety best practices, including wearing proper personal protective equipment, and participate in all required training and development courses.
• Off-hours availability to assist with emergency equipment replacement work and system restoration (as an employee of PSE&G, you should be aware that during storm/outage restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions different from normal operations, you may also be required to work in an alternate location and work additional hours than your regular work schedule).
