    General Summary:

    We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Developer Relations to lead the development and implementation of our documentation experience. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive documentation plan that supports our developers in building innovative and successful products on our platform.

    Experience in designing "developer-first" documentation, using modern approaches to content creation and distribution is critical to the success of this role. 

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.
    • 8+ years of Product Management or related work experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 8+ years of experience in developer relations or a related field, with a focus on documentation

    • 4+ years of working in a large matrixed organization.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive documentation strategy that aligns with the overall developer relations goals and objectives.

    • Define and prioritize documentation needs, based on developer feedback.

    • Familiarity with developer tools and technologies, such as APIs, SDKs, and programming languages.

    • Work closely with the developer relations, engineering, and product teams to ensure accurate and timely documentation updates.

    • Establish processes and guidelines for documentation creation, maintenance, and versioning.

    • Work closely with a team of technical writers to ensure high-quality, accurate, and accessible documentation.

    • Collaborate with other teams, such as marketing and support, to ensure consistency in messaging and information across all channels.

    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitors, and best practices for documentation and developer relations.

    • Reviews identified gaps in market based on complex analyses of overall ecosystem demands and makes decisions on how these gaps impact documentation.

    • Strong leadership skills and experience working with a team of technical writers.

    • Demonstrated experience developing and executing documentation strategies for complex platforms or products.

    • Experience working with engineering and product teams to gather information and ensure accuracy in documentation.

    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Drives the development of long-term innovation strategies for documentations while maintaining the best interest of developers and alignment with internal priorities.

    • Communicates regularly with internal customers, third-party vendors, and senior management to establish needs and goals, and executes communication/change management plan for stakeholders, management, and executives.

    • Oversees successful cross-functional collaboration by ensuring the completion of milestones by Engineering team and other internal partners (i.e., program management) ensuring the completed work aligns with roadmap for a product line(s). 

    • Collaborates with key stakeholders and program sponsors to develop documentation goals (e.g., performance, cost, timeline, schedules), discuss feasibility, and facilitate cross-functional decision making.     

    Level of Responsibility:

    • Working independently with no supervision.

    • Making decisions that are significant in impact, influencing overall program or project success, finances, and/or the ability to meet objectives; errors are not readily apparent due to the complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and results; errors typically result in significant expenditure of time, resources, and funds to correct.

    • Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. Role may require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.

    • Some financial accountability (e.g., manages a small budget, has input into P&L).

    • Having a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is making or directly making key decisions that have substantial impact on the organization).

    • Completing tasks that require multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; tasks require simultaneously executing multiple cognitive abilities and maintaining information in short- or long-term memory.

    • Regularly determines what needs to be done and is involved with sharing innovative solutions to achieve broad policies and objectives.

    • Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.

    Pay range:

    $189,000.00 - $284,000.00

    The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.  We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).  In addition, our highly competitive benefits package is designed to support your success at work, at home, and at play.
