    Job Overview - Dept Description and Job Duties:

    The IC Validation group purpose is to validate the implementation of Qualcomm IPs within products, and ensure products are suitable for mass production. This role requires good knowledge of both hardware and software to effectively produce outcomes. Areas of technology focus include, analog/digital audio, Power Management Units (PMU), battery management, auxiliary functions, high speed peripherals, power optimization and pre-silicon emulation.

     
    The primary role for the IC Validation Staff Engineer is to take the technical lead of a component/s in the IP through the validation process, to guarantee functionality according to the device specifications and external customer requirements. This often requires generating new test hardware, distinct measurement techniques, test automation and data analysis automation, to accomplish cell, sub-system, and system level validation. Further expectations include debugging faulty modules and communication of the results within Qualcomm new product development phase gates.

    The Staff Engineer will take leadership roles on projects and expected to work on ambiguous tasks. Will take full ownership, responsibility and independently deliver on assignments aligned with the business needs. Specifically, a Staff Engineer in IC Validation is expected to demonstrate strong technical, team and personal leadership skills, which are fundamental to the role.

    The BDC Bluetooth IC Val team are looking for an adaptable, enthusiastic, and reliable individual to form an integral part of our Core BT team in Bangalore. The team will work closely with the BT/Audio/PMU FW, Systems, Customer engineering team across Geos. This often requires generating new test hardware, test scripts, data analysis scripts and distinctive measurement techniques to accomplish cell, sub-system, and system level validation. Further expectations include debugging faulty modules, data analysis, and communication of the results within Qualcomm to meet new product introduction milestones. Typical tasks for the successful applicant would include:

    • Focusing on all aspects of the silicon design that influence the performance, qualification, and test of the connectivity audio, including elements of the embedded firmware for Audio/PMU/IO/Peripheral Control and defining the production test strategy and test limits for the same.
    • Develops complex features and components of hardware designs in line with proposals or roadmaps for complex products; advises less experienced engineers working together on common testing and design tasks.
    • Troubleshoots advanced issues with Audio/PMU/peripheral designs and finds solutions that are documented and shared with internal cross functional teams working on similar products.
    • Contribute to requirements capture, reviews., task definition and breakdown including time / risk estimation. 
    • Manages project-related activities (e.g., meetings, documentation, deliverables) between their team and other teams working on the same or similar products, operating across locations and time zones.
    • Lead pre-Si / post-Si planning ensuring end to end effort covering all areas required for successful TO and bring up. Ensure all risky system use cases are planned for and executed.
    • Lead FC/ES/CS efforts and ensuring all quality, KPIs and customer criteria is met.
    • Serves as a mentor to Engineers and Senior Engineers and guides them about complex features, systems, testing strategies, and automation. 
    • Addresses general technical issues and escalates only highly complex technical issues to tech leads or Principal Engineers.    
    • Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.
    • Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
    OR
    Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
    OR
    PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

    • 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead test requirements capture and programme reviews.
    • Lead task definition and breakdown including resource, time and risk analysis. 
    • Independently develop and deliver complex pre-silicon test hardware, automation, and test reports
    • Independently develop and deliver complex post-silicon test hardware, automation, and test reports
    • Independently root cause, offer solutions and inferences on technical issues.
    • Deliver complex automation and hardware, and subsequent maintenance.
    • Lead the creation of relevant department documentations.
    • Conduct peer reviews for scripts and hardware.
    • Lead the collation, summarizing, and presenting validation data for reviews
    • Automate standard lab equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, Audio Analysers, etc.)
    • Dedicate time to learning and development (Leadership, automation, test methodology, equipment, etc.)

    Educational Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics and communication engineering discipline from an internationally recognized institution.
    • At least 12+ years’ experience in a relevant engineering role

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an internationally recognized institution
    • At least 10+ years’ experience in a relevant engineering role
    • 2+ years’ experience with circuit design (e.g., digital, analog, audio, PMU, Battery monitoring, Peripheral).
    • 2+ years’ experience utilizing schematic capture and circuit simulation software.
    • 2+years’ experience with hardware design and measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, Audio/PMU tools, etc.
    • 1+ years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.

    • Expert knowledge of Analog and Digital Audio, Power Management Units (PMU), Battery Management, Auxiliary functions, Peripherals, Power Optimisation techniques.
