Our XR Labs engineers work on data acquisition and deep learning and computer vision models for self-perception including head tracking, hand gestures and tracking, as well as world perception where we apply 3D reconstruction and understanding of objects and environments including mapping and navigation. These algorithms allow intelligent head-worn XR devices to perform high-level perception functions. We design, prototype, optimize for Snapdragon XR2 and AR2 SoCs, and productize these algorithms through Snapdragon Spaces platform.

Qualcomm’s XR team is seeking a 3D Engine Engineer (Unreal/Unity/Custom 3D Engine) to join a talented and innovative team developing the next generation of Augmented and Virtual reality (XR) technologies. The 3D Engine Engineer will contribute to drive the architecture, development and deployment of the Unreal/Unity/Custom extension of the interaction toolkit for Hand Tracking and other XR features. Our pioneering team is working on essential areas of augmented reality for mobile and future platforms.

At Qualcomm XR Labs Europe, we are creating the next generation of toolkits for XR devices that are optimized across hardware and software. In this role you can help creating a product based on 3D engines that other developers will use to create their XR experiences. Work with future XR devices ahead of their market introduction and help us “wow” the developer community.

Responsibilities

• With other developers in mind define, implement and test new features

• Expose new functionalities from our perception team within the XR Interaction toolkit

• Work closely with product managers, partner managers and Unity/Unreal experts on the customer and partner side to understand their requirements and with that directly influence the roadmap of Qualcomm’s XR software stack.

• Software development from design to coding and testing

• Build demo experiences and samples using showcasing functionality of the XR toolkit to fellow developers and customers

Skills/Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• 3+ years’ experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, etc.

• Applied and proven experience in developing software for Unreal and Unity (C#)

Preferred Qualifications:

• A passion for software development, writing optimized code and using cutting edge technologies.

• Worked previously on VR or AR projects or have a solid background in game development

• Background in computer graphics and associated math and or 3D render engines

• Previous experience with development for mobile platforms (Android, iOS) and head-worn devices (Oculus, HoloLens, Magic Leap)

• Experience in integrating and working with C++ libraries.

• Optional: knowledge of OpenXR environment (Features, EXT, runtime…) would be a plus
