Position summary

The Continuous Improvement Specialist will work alongside business and Operations leaders and their teams as required to optimize business processes and develop talent within the operating system. As a direct report of the Continuous Improvement Site Lead, this position will interact with other members of the Collins CORE (Customer Oriented Results & Excellence) Team, as well as CORE focals at the Business Units. Responsible for all or a major portion of processing operations in a plant.

CORE is the Raytheon Technologies continuous improvement operating system that aligns all major elements of the business and its processes so that they work together in a harmonious system. Business Units and Support Teams will transform and mature using CORE tools and methods in a series of activities and events.

This is an onsite position; employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Regardless of your role type, collaboration and innovation are critical to our business and all employees will have access to digital tools so they can work with colleagues around the world – and access to Collins sites when their work requires in-person meetings.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the necessary events/activities to deliver value to our customers to create self-sufficiency

  • Plan, lead and execute the implementation of the CORE Operating System across Collins sites.

  • On-time delivery recovery

  • Quality escapes and/or yield improvement activities

  • Specific cost/spend pressures including productivity/efficiency

  • Transform sites/cells to flow/pitch/takt using standard work (SWCS, % load, SWS)

  • Align all portions of operations to work in harmony, to include development of robust SIOP processes

  • Determine/monitor/improve KPI's and implementation processes

  • IT Systems (MS Office Suite, MS Teams, etc.)

  • Positively affect KPI change

  • Identifies cost reduction and process improvement opportunities to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.

  • Leverages analysis on cell performance and productivity to maximize productivity.

  • Lead special projects as needed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and less than 2 years of prior relevant experience

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing practices

  • Implementing process improvements

  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and leaders 

  • Blueprint, drawings and routing reading and comprehension

  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

  • Certified Lean Transformation Leader

  • TPS based continuous improvement experience is a plus

  • Operations/Shop Floor Management experience

  • Industrial or manufacturing engineering experience
