Job Description:
Pratt & Whitney Cold Section Engineering Support to Operations (CSE ESTO) is seeking a goal oriented, detail-focused Structures Engineer. In this role you will be involved with various production support activities related to military and commercial hardware. Should be proficient at performing structures and thermal durability analysis ensuring on-time delivery and technical quality required of work performed. Responsible for medium complexity tasks within functional discipline with low to moderate guidance on projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Structures Engineer responsible for, but not limited to the following:
•Develop and modify 2D/3D finite element models from Computer Aided Designs.
•Provide technical & analytical support for structures on military or commercial engine compression systems components. Responsible for the durability and structural integrity of engine components. Specific structural engineering specialties may include static and dynamic stress analysis of airfoils, rotors, and cases, and fatigue and fracture mechanics assessments.
•Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD), Structures Engineering Standard Work (ESW), specifically tasks covered through Phase (V) (QNs, eSRIs, SDOs, among others)
•Participate on multi-disciplinary teams to provide design solutions that meet design and life requirements.
•Work low to moderate guidance on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable. Analysis may include both classical methods and detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for strength, stress, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
•2+ years of experience in structural analysis and
•Fluent in English(verbal & written)
•US Citizenship required due to government contracts
Preferred Qualifications
•Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
Problem-solving skills using FEA for stress/deflection and vibration analyses.
•Working knowledge of ANSYS or other FEA software.
•Effective Communication Skills (verbal/written); able to work effectively on teams
