Position summary

Job Description:
Raytheon Technologies currently has an exciting Digital Technology (DT) position available that supports the Raytheon Technologies mission of making the world a safer place.  We are seeking a Linux System Administrator that will be working in a highly collaborative, multi-platform and multi–disciplined environment. This is an IT position supporting the Raytheon Digital Technology ICON Data Center in McKinney, TX. The position is to be part of an Enterprise DT team responsible supporting a classified data center and its foundation.  The candidate will need the soft skills to collaborate with a diverse team of individuals from different departments, vendors, and partners. With a demanding environment, the candidate will have to be able to quickly prioritize their assigned responsibilities and think on their feet. Even though, the candidate will be working in a team dynamic, they will need to be a self-starter and capable of completing tasks and projects on their own with little oversite. They will have the opportunity to participate in the automation process to build infrastructure as code. This will demand them to utilize their strong documentation, RHEL and Ansible skills to get tasks & actions done on time with a “right the first time” attitude. The work environments will be complex and technically challenging so the candidate must have a strong troubleshooting skillset and have a “think out of the box” mindset to solve many of the tasks assigned.
The candidate is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to Windows and non-Windows (RHEL) infrastructures within a classified environment. Duties include, but are not limited to, server infrastructure maintenance and support; server management (software and hardware); access management in an Active Directory authentication domain; software and license configuration; embedded operating systems management; new systems design and integration; and workstation support.

Job Duties:

  • Build, configure, and administrate all aspects of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7/8
  • Apply security hardening according to DISA STIG and JSIG requirements
  • Create and modify Ansible playbooks and be able to deploy playbooks via the Red Hat Satellite Server
  • Provide assistance in managing the existing VMware infrastructure
  • Analyze system faults, troubleshoot, and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services (e.g. LDAP and/ or Active Directory)
  • Install, Convert, and upgrade systems and implement CLAM AV patches
  • Implement and support cybersecurity settings on networked, peer-to-peer, and stand-alone workstations
  • Maintain and grow technical competence in multiple areas (such as ForcePoint, Windows, NetApp, virtualization, User Authentication, DNS, NFS, system imaging/build automation)

Required Skills:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Administrator Experience
  • Integrated Active Directory authentication (Kerberos, LDAP and/or Centrify)
  • Experience with Ansible
  • Experience with application installation and multi-server environment/deployment
  • Experience in support of virtual Microsoft Windows desktops
  • Experience in support of virtual Microsoft Server
  • Hands-on experience in the RHEL OS (DNS, DHCP, NFS, Kerberos, LDAP, CLAM AV, AD, GPO, Kickstart, central antivirus deployment, database server setup/maintenance)
  • Experience with VMware Software, Virtual Workstations, ESXi, and vCenter support and administration
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Desired Skills:

  • Commvault Backup or understanding of server backup concepts

  • Experience with Splunk

  • Experience with Lumension/Ivanti

  • Experience with HP server hardware support and diagnosis

  • Experience with HP storage hardware support and diagnosis

  • CompTIA Security+ certification

  • CompTIA A+ Certification

  • Industry-recognized certifications relevant to a UNIX/Linux System Administrator

  • Knowledge of NAS and/or SAN

  • ITIL Foundations v3

  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing desktop hardware

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Required Education:

  • Typically, a Bachelors Degree and  discipline and 5 years relevant experience or 13 years in lieu of Degree.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
