Position summary

In January 2021, Collins Aerospace expanded a new Global Engineering Center (GEC) facility in Puerto Rico, with plans to hire up to 250 employees over the next 5 years at our Aguadilla site.

Join our growing engineering team in Puerto Rico, where you will provide critical support to Collins SBUs – including our Mission Systems and Power & Controls teams – working on exciting programs and projects ranging from the development of the next generation of advanced concept ejection seats to the latest technologies for the U.S. warfighter.

This position is for a Software Engineering professional to support military applications development within the Missions Systems business unit. We are looking for experienced engineers, passionate problem-solvers with an action-oriented mindset to work in a cross disciplinary team.

  • Please consider the following role type definitions as you apply for this role.
  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
  • Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
  • Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leverage a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process to deliver high-quality software products and services.
  • Leverage the latest software development frameworks, including Agile methodologies, and Continuous-Integration/ Continuous-Deployment (CI/CD) models to plan, architect, design, build, test, document, deploy and maintain software products and services.
  • Hands-on development of some parts of the technology-stack including user interface (UI), front-end (client-side) & back-end (server-side), database integration, web service & API development, performance tuning and security design for mobile (native & responsive), web and embedded-systems.
  • Responsible for small and some mid-size projects or multiple tasks within functional discipline.
  • Work with low guidance on projects with short-term focus.
  • Provide coaching and technical guidance to peers as necessary.
  • Develop automated test and automated deployment software

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related and 8 years of prior relevant experience, OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
  • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills in English (verbal and written).
  • Candidate must be a U.S Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in analysis, design and development of simple applications or portions of more complex applications
  • Ability to develop/modify software based on functional specifications
  • Experience conducting test planning & unit- tests
  • Experience in C, C++, C#, .NET, Java or Python
  • Experience with databases and GUI development
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages
  • Experience of Linux development.
  • Experience in version control software development and management such as SVN and GIT or knowledge on how to use version control
  • Experience with Agile software development
