Senior Electrical Design Engineer (HYBRID)

Responsible for design and development of electronic control units and associated printed wiring board assemblies within electric systems for military and commercial aircraft. The applicant will apply principles and techniques of electrical/electronic engineering to ensure design preparation is in accordance with applicable specifications, customer requirements and standard work practices; interfaces with various functional groups to coordinate conceptual, preliminary, and detailed unit design, engineering documentation releases, development testing, qualification testing, and entry into service.

Hybrid:

• Must be a local commutable distance from Rockford, IL to work a hybrid schedule reporting on-site as needed

Primary Responsibilities:

• IBM DOORS Requirements Management
• Circuit Board Level Requirements analysis and decomposition
• Demonstrate Compliance to Design Process
• Skilled in the following technologies:
  • Cadence design suite for schematic capture
  • Mixed Signal Design - Receiver A/D Converters, Direct Digital Converters, Receiver D/A Converters, Digital Waveform Generators, Mixed Signal CCAs, Mixed Signal Modules and Subsystems.
  • Digital design: MUXs, gates, buffers, registers, ram memory, flash memory
  • Knowledge of Embedded Systems Development – CPLDs, FPGAs
  • Circuit Board Power Distribution - Aircraft, Line Voltage, Low Voltage, High Current, DC, AC, Multi-Phase Power Control, Fault Monitoring Circuits, Isolation, Overcurrent Protection Circuits, Redundant Systems
  • Power Conversion - AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC, 3 Phase conversion capability, Linear and Switching Supplies, PWM, and Resonant Circuits, Synchronization, Noise Controls
  • Power Design - Filter, Harmonic Control, EMI Suppression, Circuit Simulation, Overload, Short Circuit, Stress Analysis
• Experience with simulation tools: PSpice, MATLAB
• Mathematical ability and computer literacy
• Analyzes and evaluates new or improved electronic components

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
• Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience OR
• In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
• Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferred master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

• Experience with Chapter 24 Systems

• Understanding of RTCA DO-160 requirements

• Knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work
