Position summary

Designs and develops manufacturing processes for products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing. Such design and development may include new or revised processes. Conducts tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variable; and services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation. May make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review drawings, develop shop work instructions, create work orders

  • Generate continuous improvement ideas, lead kaizen events with all stakeholders, drive change, continuous follow up on implementation and floor support

  • Perform Time Studies as applicable to pain points on shop floor

  • Support shop on new tooling requests, work with Tool Designer on concepts

  • Generate new and maintain Standard Work documents

  • Electrical Assembly and testing

  • Develop and maintain equipment in support of electrical and pressurized systems or component acceptance testing

  • Performs professional Manufacturing Engineering assignments of wide complexity under general direction with considerable discretion as to work details

  • Prepares plans, process specifications and procedures, production aids and assembly fixtures, factory cost work standards, and assignments of similar complexity and magnitude requiring a comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and manufacturing theory and design.

  • Work with sister sites to develop shop work instructions and support work transfers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has MRB (Material Review Board) experience and can create technical dispositions for discrepant product.
  • Unigraphics or NX experience
  • Team Center Experience
  • ERP System experience
  • Tooling experience
  • Experience with time studies
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiar with engineering drawings in a manufacturing environment
  • CAD experience
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing operations
