Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the US, and we’ve set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.
From your first day at Roku, you’ll make a valuable — and valued — contribution. We’re a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers worldwide while gaining meaningful experience across various disciplines
About the Team
Roku believes all TV will be streamed. Our job is to make it easier for users to find great content. The most powerful tool we have today is The Roku Channel (TRC), which has quickly become a leading streaming app for free, live, and subscription based premium content. Whether you are in your living room, on your mobile, or at your desktop, TRC has an always-changing selection of Hollywood hits, classics, live news, hit TV shows and family programs to keep you entertained. Roku made streaming possible and The Roku Channel is changing the way we watch it.
The Programming organization focuses on expanding the scale, reach and content offering of TRC through partnerships with over 175 different content providers. In 2021, we launched Roku Originals and acquired This Old House to enable new ways to provide our users with great content. In addition to TRC, we also build new experiences and tools that help users find content across the Roku UI, like Featured Free and Roku Recommends. We collaborate across many teams to deliver great content, drive engagement, and delight millions of TV streamers worldwide
We are seeking a Programming Business Strategy Manager to join our team to support Strategic Partnerships and Investments. In this role, you will be evaluating potential partnership structures that impact Roku’s AVOD, Premium Subscriptions (SVOD) and Platform businesses, identifying and quantifying growth opportunities, trade-offs and impacts to ‘business as usual’ to secure outsized value.
You will collaborate across Corporate Development, TRC’s Content Acquisition, Platform’s Content Distribution, Finance, Analytics, Ad Sales, TRC AVOD and TRC PS (SVOD) teams to identify key opportunities, develop the rationale for the strategic positioning of the partnership, and leverage a financial framework, to ultimately deliver your data-driven recommendation. Given the volume of opportunities we are assessing, you will use your framework to prioritize and proactively align around potential strategic investments and partnerships.
In order to be successful in this role, you will need to have an existing understanding of the media landscape, including industry dynamics, trends and typical business terms; ability to build flexible financial analyses, sensitivities and models to support your hypotheses and findings, to ultimately recommend the structure where Roku can be successful. Further, you will be the overall owner of aligning internal teams around the recommendations and for some projects, be the directly responsible individual for executing the deal(s), collaborating with legal and operational teams.
Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company’s success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We’re independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you’ll be part of a company that’s changing how the world watches TV.
We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn’t real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
