About the role

Roku's People Strategy team brings together strategic people initiatives and teams that will bring the Roku-wide People Strategy to life, by leading global, cross-functional initiatives to shape, implement and measure our People Strategy. You must also be an expert in your field, be prepared to fly high in the strategy sphere and the next minute, dive deeply into details. And last, you must be a strong communicator and influencer with people in varying parts and levels of the organization. This role will involve two primary functions:

For People Analytics, you will:

  • Own the long-term roadmap for people analytics insights and data products such as forecasting models, analytics dashboards, surveys, and large-scale analyses
  • Partner with People Business Partners and cross functional teams to rationalize and prioritize demand and cultivate a culture of value-add reporting and analytics
  • Build capacity within the People organization to use data and analytics to drive decision-making
  • Create data resources, dashboards, and training for HR and Recruiting teams
  • Partner with People Team and business leaders to understand key business questions and design analyses to answer these questions
  • Lead and develop a team to drive scalable outcomes across the organization and positively impact employee experience
  • Use data visualization and storytelling skills to effectively communicate insights to Senior Leadership and influence decisions and outcomes
  • Partner closely with a team of data engineers to evolve our people data warehouse and security model
  • Research & Insights - Design, manage and facilitate employee listening surveys throughout the year (engagement, lifecycle, and strategic topics)

For Workforce Strategy, you will:

  • Develop the playbook and toolkit to analyze, design and plan our workforce strategy
  • Create and execute on our talent strategy including geographic growth, remote vs in-office plan and assess and address skill and talent gaps throughout the company
  • Build programs and systems to ensure our talent is correctly allocated to the right priorities
  • Create and use an org health playbook to assess and improve org health
  • Facilitate the creation of observability into org health data and determine hypotheses and metrics for healthy orgs and healthy growth
  • Collaborate with PBPs to work on a process for gathering observed data for quarterly assessments
  • Grade and improve org health through a combination of evaluating structural design elements (level, span of control and location distribution) and functional health (manager effectiveness, engagement and inclusion)
  • Work with org leaders and PBPs to affect change
  • Advise in annual headcount planning processes to ensure healthy growth and effective orgs
  • Lead a variety of ad hoc projects in the people org as they arise

We're excited if you have

  • A background of at least 15+ years of experience in People Analytics, Strategic Workforce Planning, HR Strategy & Transformation, or related areas at innovative companies with outstanding People functions
  • Experience in a highly strategic, analytical, and operational role in fast-paced environments (some consulting or high-growth technology company preferred)
  • Experience collaborating across multiple partner groups, communicating with diverse audiences, and balancing dynamic priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent understanding of data technologies, data structures and analytics/workforce planning platforms
  • Ability to interpret model results and influence how to apply them

The Roku culture

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company’s success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We’re independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you’ll be part of a company that’s changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn’t real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
