About the Advanced Development Team

The advanced development team pushes the boundaries beyond product lines to build genuinely new things. We think independent of standard shipping cadences and timelines, working on foundational technologies that could impact every Roku device in the future and on ideas that no one’s seen in their living room. About the Role

Any company growing at scale thrives on its ability to continuously innovate on new products and features. We have an opportunity for a Software Engineer in Test, to join our Advanced Development testing team in San Jose working on a variety of our products. You will be collaborating with world-class global development teams applying your finest testing expertise across a range of our state-of-the-art devices.

What you’ll be doing

We want to speak with Engineers of all levels of experience, and if you are currently working in development, with a strong interest in software quality and are open to transitioning to a test-focused or hybrid role, then we would love to hear from you.

Essential skills and experience:

• Strong experience with Python and test automation frameworks
• Knowledge of continuous integration tools (Jenkins/Hudson, TeamCity, Maven, Gradle)
• Familiar with Linux systems
• Continually seek new ways to challenge software under test
• Instinctively know when a situation calls for exploratory, scripted, or automated testing
• Fundamentals of defect analysis
• Build and maintain an automated test infrastructure for a multi-platform product that will be used to validate all aspects of the product operation.
• Evaluate product functionality, create test strategies, and test cases to assess product quality.
• Integrate with Build infrastructure to establish a continuous build and test cycle.
• Enhance and extend the test automation framework, systems, and libraries, and improve developer productivity through better tools, processes, and frameworks
• Establish processes and tools set to maintain automation scripts and generate regular test reports.

We’re Excited If You Have

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years professional experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with strong, object-oriented design and coding skills
• Experience developing automation in at least one of OO languages – Python, Java, C#/C++ or web-based technologies
• Demonstrated experience in test framework design and development
• Experience in testing software development tool kits or API's
• Strong knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with demonstrated experience in an SDET role
• Experience influencing software engineering best practices within your team
• Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical and problem-solving skills
